Introduction

Medical educators consider that clinical exposure
should be taught mainly during clinical rotations. Early clinical exposure teaching strategies such as activities that correlate clinical concepts with basic subjects facilitate understanding of these subjects and
allow the development of clinical reasoning skills. This

Classic non-homeostatic structures involved in food intake regulation are reciprocally influenced by metabolic signals. Orexigenic peptides expressed in the olfactory bulb (OB) and hippocampus (HP) modulate olfactory processing and memory, respectively. Hypothalamic circuits also modulate feeding behavior by activating and releasing Agouti-related...
Objectives:
Adaptive immunity is crucial in controlling Giardia lamblia infection in the intestinal mucosa, and some dietary lipids may improve mucosal immune function. The aim of this study was to evaluate conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on the Th17/Treg response and secretory IgA production in a model of giardiasis infection.
Materials and metho...
Purposes: Most molecular-based published studies on breast cancer do not
adequately represent the unique and diverse genetic admixture of the Latin American
population. Searching for similarities and differences in molecular pathways associated
with these tumors and evaluating its impact on prognosis may help to select better
therapeutic approaches...
The neurovascular unit, composed of neurons, brain endothelial cells, pericytes, microglia, and astrocytes, regulates cerebral blood flow. The physical and chemical signals govern the physiology of the neurovascular unit within the network composed of its cellular components. Astrocytes have an essential role in this network since they have a privi...
The meninges shield the nervous system from diverse, rather harmful stimuli and pathogens from the periphery. This tissue is composed of brain endothelial cells (BECs) that express diverse ion channels and chemical‐transmitter receptors also expressed by neurons and glial cells to communicate with each other. However, information about the effects...
Recently, soluble forms of aluminum for human use or consumption have been determined to be potentially toxic due to their association with hepatic, neurological, hematological, neoplastic, and bone conditions. This study aims to assess the genotoxic effect of aluminum chloride on genomic instability associated with the onset of N-nitroso-N-methylu...
Introduction: Giardia lamblia, a protozoan intestinal parasite is able to evade or suppress defense mechanisms, such as innate response. Antigen presenting cells (APC) like dendritic cells may orchestrate an immune response and support a more effective adaptive defense. Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a dietary lipid, has shown biological activity...
