Introduction
Our work-group design and develop new compounds (small molecules) and nanovaccines (peptides, peptide-nanocarriers) to treat cancer, influenza, HIV and other human diseases (collaborations) employing chemoinformatic, bioinformatic and molecular modeling tools. Then, the synthesis and biological assays are performed to show the predicted biological effects of the designed compounds or peptides. The biological responses of the drugs tested in vitro (cell culture) are being explored under multi-omics tools using LC-MS to decipher the mechanism of action. Also, LC-MS based metabolomic is applied in plant extracts to get new anticancer compounds.

It is known that bioconjugation makes it possible to generate nanovaccines by combining gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with immunogenic epitopes. Such is the case of the KKFKPEIAIRPKVRD peptide (P) identified under immunoinformatic studies from the tridimensional structure of the hemagglutinin of the human influenza A H1N1 pandemic strain virus. The P...
A number of species have developed detoxification strategies that allow them to accumulate high amounts of heavy metals in their tissues and grow despite a high heavy metal (HM) concentration in soils. Thus, they are considered hyperaccumulator or accumulator species, attractive for phytoremediation purposes. Families reported to contain a high num...

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has the worst prognosis among all human cancers as it is highly resistant to che-motherapy. K-Ras mutations usually trigger the development and progression of PDAC. We hypothesized that compounds stabilizing the KRas4B/PDE6δ complex could serve as PDAC treatments. Using in silico approaches, we identified the...
