Lower order faults (LOFs) are characterized by small‐scale, strong concealment and difficult to identify in seismic data, which affects the accuracy of LOF interpretation. Due to the quality of the seismic data in the M35 fault block of the Gaoyou sag, Subei basin, the direction of the LOFs cannot be accurately identified, leading to the unclear re...
To ensure the effectiveness of fracturing treatment and improve the production reserves of individual wells, it is important to accurately predict the in situ stress distribution to prevent the collapse of horizontal wells. From the perspective of reservoir development, under similar structural environments, microscopic factors, such as reservoir a...
Fractured reservoirs account for more than one-half of the global oil and gas output and thus play a pivotal role in the world’s energy structure. Under diagenesis, rocks become dense, and tectonic fractures easily form under subsequent tectonic movement. These tectonic fractures are the main seepage conduits of tight sandstone reservoirs and are i...
A transfer zone is a kind of structure that is produced to conserve deformation of a fault structure on both sides. Increasing numbers of transfer zones are being identified in rift basins, which are areas of petroleum accumulation and potential exploration targets. This paper provides a numerical simulation method for the genesis and development o...
Hydraulic fracturing technology is relatively mature in North America, but under complex geological conditions, such as those in China, the application of this technology still faces great challenges. The rock mechanical stratigraphy controls the development degree and genetic mechanism of natural fractures. Similarly, the development of fractures also affects the size and anisotropy of rock mechanical parameters. Affected by diagenesis and tectonics, the rock mechanics layer has migrated. Therefore, the rock mechanics layer that controls the de...

Understanding existing fractures is critical to achieving high and stable yields in low‐permeability reservoirs, tight sandstones, and shale reservoirs. When multiple fracture sets are present in a reservoir, accurately determining the seepage direction of fluids is critical for the deployment of the well network, fracture reformation, and the desi...
Fractured oil and gas reservoirs occupy an important position in world's oil and gas output and reserves. On the one hand, natural fractures can significantly improve the reservoir permeability, they can even provide some storage space for oil and gas accumulation. On the other hand, they are important effects of reservoir fracturing and petroleum...
The Lower Paleozoic Silurian Longmaxi Formation shale in the Sichuan Basin of southern China has achieved commercial exploitation in recent years, and has become a rapid growth point in China's oil and gas reserves. However, the Longmaxi Formation on the peripheral margin of the Sichuan Basin has not made substantial progress. Fractures, that as fl...
Of the characteristics of tight sandstone reservoirs, heterogeneity is one of the most difficult characteristics to analyze. Heterogeneity is mainly manifested in three properties: lithology, porosity and electricity. The Chang 7 reservoir in the Dingbian oilfield is a tight sandstone reservoir controlled by delta front deposits. In this sedimentar...
