Worldwide the intertidal areas are supressed by human interventions and climate changes. Understanding the natural evolution of intertidal areas, gives the opportunity to investigate sustainable solutions for the societal needs in deltas. Within this research project I will study the small scale morphological features (e.g. bedforms) of intertidal areas where physical and biological processes interact with each other. These small scale feedback mechanisms influence the large scale developments of estuaries and deltas and vice versa. Understanding the fundamental processes is there for crucial to make deliberate decisions for the societal needs in deltas.
