Purpose: Regarding industrial sports products, there is sometimes a dual sport and health meaning intended by designers. Appearances of sport products are often quite opposite to health products. Design choices made by designers can thus be misunderstood by users. Understanding the perception gap between designers and users within earlier stages of...

In the textile industry, corporate transparency does not provide information about products that would allow customers to make informed purchases. Based on a literature review, the concept of product transparency is defined as the disclosure of information concerning a specific product about traceability and sustainability conditions for the suppli...

Creativity is key in the early phases of innovation processes. With the rapid evolution of technologies, designers now have access to various tools to support this activity. Virtual reality (VR) takes over multiple domains, especially during conception. However, is VR really facilitating creativity in the initial ideation phases? We compare two ske...

Works on garment and shoe dismantlement and recycling have highlighted the complexity of this kind product and the difficulty to find a recycling channel for each material they are made of. The way they are designed perturbate the recycling process at products end of life. This paper examines these product complexities and proposes Unlinear methodo...

The integration of user perception into the design process has become necessary to provide the best experience to users. All methods focusing on the interpretations of products are based on the same principle: identifying relationships between a semantics and physical attributes of products within a product domain. Sometimes this domain makes the d...

The Textile & Clothing industry is facing systemic and global challenges due both to ecological and economic crises. Today, increasing full traceability of supply chain is one of the key points to optimize production but it should also serve to inform consumers to foster sustainable purchasing decision. We argue that the total traceability of the g...

Wind and solar power generation have been rapidly increasing on a global scale; this increase is limited by the capacities of the existing grids at maintaining balance between supply and demand to accommodate the fluctuations of these renewable energy resources. Therefore, grid flexibility has become a key factor in power systems. This study focuse...

Products appearances are made of design choices influencing the way products are perceived. Products semantics is a methods used to understand and anticipate this phenomena. Nowadays, consumers consider sport products not only as “sport” but also as “health” products. Designers may then develop them as “sport-health” products. However, perception o...

Product success depends on its capacity to meet users’ expectations. Human Centred Design approach helps to reach this success by focussing on users’ needs in the design process. These needs are as well functional as hedonic. Designing products requires then to design hedonic properties affecting users’ perception. For sport products, people wants...
