Flow is a gratifying state of deep involvement and absorption that individuals report when facing a challenging activity and they perceive adequate abilities to cope with it ( EFRN, 2014 ). The flow concept was introduced by Csikszentmihalyi in 1975, and interest in flow research is growing. However, to our best knowledge, no scoping review exists...

Nowadays, Machine Learning (ML) techniques play an increasingly important role in educational settings such as behavioral academic pattern recognition, educational resources suggestion, competences and skills prediction, or clustering students with similar learning characteristics, among others. Knowledge Tracing (KT) allows modelling the learner’s...

While the formulation of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's theory of flow, including the experience dimensions, has remained stable since its introduction in 1975, its dedicated measurement tools, research methodologies, and fields of application, have evolved considerably. Among these, education stands out as one of the most active. In recent years, resea...

While setting up a Massive Open Online Course for Lifelong Learners, the choice of the most adequate Learner Model for this most current context is paramount: not all Learner Models are created equal, despite their overall added value to facilitate the learner’s follow-up, course content personalization and trainers/teachers’ practices in various L...

Nowadays medical errors are one of incidents and death causes involving nurses with poor clinical reasoning skills. Teachers in nursing schools need to improve these skills. Existing research works show the role of game-based learning to increase the students’ learning. Furthermore, many game design software exist, they are available and easy-to-us...

Lifelong Learning encompasses vast learning opportunities and MOOCs are a learning environment that can be up to the challenge ifcurrent modeling challenges are addressed. Studies have shown the importance of modeling the learner for a more personal and tailored learning experience inMOOC. Furthermore, Open Learner Models have proven their added va...

Abstract This article describes the development and the validation of a French questionnaire related to self-regulated learning strategies in online environments (EAREL). The EAREL contains 24 items divided into 4 factors: procrastination, control of learning context, learning strategies and search for peers support. A pilot study (N = 248) was con...

Emotional well-being is particularly important in teenagers and young adults. Childhood and adolescence provide opportunities to develop the foundations for mental health and the school is an important mean that can enable it. It seems important to examine the evolution and differences in positive and negative emotions and experiences in adolescent...

This research examines the relationship between interest and well-being based on data collected from 1,192 high school and school students in four different grades (6 th , 9 th , 10 th , 12 th ). Three dimensions of interest (school, French, mathematics) are measured using the multidimensional scale of academic interest (EMIA). These three dimensio...

The study explored the effects of the learning setting — group and individual — on Perceived Self-Efficacy (PSE) of boys and girls in French literacy. Thirty students (third and fourth graders) were asked to complete the questionnaire in French literacy at two separate times: after a group-learning setting and after an individual-learning setting....

Background Over the past 35 years, researchers have developed and validated new measurement instruments for flow in a variety of contexts (Moneta, 2012), but to our knowledge, before Heutte et al.’s recent works (2014a), no specific self-report tool was designed to assess flow in the educational context. When constructing the Flow in Education Scal...

For Lopez and Calderon (2011), 50% of students are engaged and invested at school, and this proportion decreases with age and grades. In contrast, the Gallup Student Poll (Lopez, Agrawal, & Calderon, 2010) revealed that “nearly three of four students who are hopeful about the future are also involved in and enthusiastic about school” (Lopez, 2013,...

Due to the conceptual evolution of the flow in education (EduFlow2) model, the Heuristic model of the Individually Motivated Community (Heutte, 2011; 2014) must be updated, but this update does not modify the initial modeling fundamentally. Finally our proposal for a ”pedagogical toolkit” to build the optimal learning environnement (a learning envi...

the single acronym of MOOC (Massive Online Open Course) refers to many different realities. We mainly infer about the MOOC object from what we can see or read about it. However, these inferences (inductions from partial vision) lead to contradictory assertions. Nevertheless, we need to accurately describe a MOOC. In this context, this research work...
