An investigation into the effect of inflammation in migraine pathophysiology on haemostatic systems at baseline and during the phases of migraine (aura and headache), with special focus on erythrocyte, platelet and fibrinogen/fibrin interactions.
We are currently looking at the effect of LPS on fibrin formation, and also the individual effects of various cytokines on RBCs, platelets and fibrin formation. We use super-resolution confocal microscopy as well as scanning electron microscopy.
