For the arrangement processing of image using its histogram, we previously have presented a Histogram Matching method based on Gaussian Distribution (HMGD). However, in the case where the brightness histogram of input image has multiple peaks, the HMGD processing does not always bring good results. In this paper, we present an improved histogram ma...
Some benefits of mindfulness include reducing stress, improving concentration, and improving physical and psychological health. Virtual reality creates a relaxing and meditation-friendly environment away from everyday life. However, most applications consider only the visual and auditory aspects, which is insufficient in fully mimicking the physica...
This paper studies how to properly meditate in a VR environment and increase the effect of chakra meditation by real-time EEG data. Meditation on the chakra is beneficial for the health of the body. For ordinary people, the chakra is invisible and unimaginable. Therefore, we developed the application in a VR environment. Users can sit inside a non-...
Augmented reality (A.R.) is the underlying technique where 3D virtual objects are integrated in real-time with a real environment. Augmented reality applications such as medical visualization, maintenance and repair, robot path planning, entertainment, military aircraft navigation, and targeting applications have been proposed. Bi-manual interaction in virtual reality (VR) is generally used and has unlimited potential in interdisciplinary fields such as health care, education, and industry due to the facts of its conveniences, intuition, and beyond. With the continuous development of these interfaces, passive monitoring of user state can play a key role in extending the i...
Gesture manipulation is a new input mode for the modern virtual reality (VR) user experience. Current gesture manipulation can be performed with three types of devices: Hand-held, Bare-hand and Hand-worn devices. Each device has its own advantages and disadvantages. However, many studies have not discussed the difference between these three types o...
In virtual reality applications, such as games and training, the use of two-handed controllers to interact with virtual objects is usually supported. To reproduce the interactive sensation of holding objects of various shapes and behaviors with both hands, previous researchers have used mechanical connections or set various peripheral brakes betwee...

With the technological improvement of hardware equipment and the innovation of software content, the application of VR has more possibilities. Copying the real world and expanding it is a way to construct the VR world. Therefore, this research uses Taiwan's mos...
Nowadays, virtual reality (VR) has become more and more abundant with the technological advancement of hardware equipment and the innovation of software content. Generative art is produced by procedural techniques. It has obtained a lot of attention since the beginning of computer graphics. Many works of art are inspired by nature, among which phyllotaxis is as well. It is a combination of mathematics and the beauty of nature. Not only can it be seen everywhere in nature, but also often appear in man-made o...
Many interaction techniques have been introduced for controlling virtual reality contents and navigation. Traditional controllers need to map between two-dimensional inputs and three-dimensional actions while interactive surfaces enable more natural approaches, they still lack tactile feedback. We present real-virtual bend and twist, a tactile feed...
In modern art, new types of installations and artworks use sensor-based inputs as an interactive method to create new forms of media art. Most of those installation artworks have static and pre-captured contents; they tend to be played as dynamic, and by some concerned as interactive creations. However, most installations are not able to capture th...
The main purpose of virtual reality is to immerse
a user in a virtual environment. However, the most common
criticism of companion robotics is that they are not able to
provide effective tactile feedback. In this research, we will
propose an interactive companion doll that has a tail mechanism
controlled by the user’s hand gestures as well as gener...

After introducing content creations in the immersive environments, the VR content creation process has been changed dramatically. It has enhanced the direct engagements of the artists and reduces the time it takes to get a part from the idea stage to the production stage. Time consuming VR content creation process has been reduced to hours or days....

The perception of immersion experience has been used to develop virtual reality applications for game-based learning, healthcare, rehabilitation, etc. In traditional games, the user immersion is performed through the sense of visuals and sounds with interactions throu...
The popularization of virtual reality brings together educational fields such as science, art, and culture. However, most current cultural education regarding archaeological civilization is based on excavated cultural relics. In this research, we script the process of the Taiwan First Dog being unearthed. Based on this story, we develop a virtual r...
In our previous papers, we have reported that automated arrangement of color image by Histogram Matching (HM) based on Gaussian Distribution (HMGD) gives good feeling impression if the brightness histogram of the original image has single peak. However, if there are multi-peaks in the histogram, the arrangement by HMGD processing does not always br...
This paper describes an improved method of the variance estimation of Gaussian distribution for Histogram Matching based on Gaussian Distribution (HMGD). In our previous paper, focusing on the symmetry of the Gaussian function, we presented another method for the variance (or Gaussian width) estimation of Gaussian distribution in the original histo...

This paper describes a method for color image arrangement using Histogram Matching based on a parameter estimated Gaussian distribution (HMGD). In our previous papers, we have presented some methods for the estimation of parameters in Gaussian distribution from the curvature computation of the original cumulative histogram. However, since the histo...

Previously, we have illustrated that the Histogram Matching based on Gaussian Distribution (HMGD) is an effective automated image processing method for obtaining a better feeling impression image. However, the simple HMGD works only for the image whose histogram has just one peak. For the image whose histogram has multiplebrightness peak, it does n...

Development of the engineering on virtual environment over last decades have been attempted to establish a metaphor of human communication scheme, utilizing avatar models as user proxies. Many of the avatar models in present Collaborative Virtual Environments have still built on the universality hypothesis, which tends to ignore the multiplicities...
This paper proposes a new color image arrangement method using an elastic transform on some kinds of axes. In this paper, we present the principle of our method using HMGD (Histogram Matching based on Gaussian Distribution). The sense of touch is essential to perform discriminating tasks in virtual reality applications or virtual training systems. To discriminate between different virtual objects, a human operator needs to clearly perceive the stiffness of each object. Stiffness is not only a material property, but also a characteristic of the particular object and exp...
When designing a product, geometrical shape becomes one of the most important factors among other visual factors such as colour, material and texture. Some products have shapes or parts that do not fulfil the consumer's desires and needs. In other words, product shape directly influence the buying behaviour, hence worth to study perception of shape...

The directional-dependent effects of the materials are responsible for our perception of certain materials being realistic or not. Some materials consist of colour pigments, and these cause directional-dependent colour variations (or colour-shifts). For instance, we can observe a colour-shift effect of metallic materials, which means the changing o...
Haptic devices provide a powerful interface that allows users to use their sense of touch to interact with 3D shapes. Even though much research has been done on haptics-based design and sculpting, less effort has been spent on applications related to torque computing and torque-based modeling. We have constructed a 3D shape modeling and modificatio...
The appearance of a product has led to a trend for a consumer to purchase a product. Some products have shapes or parts that don't fulfill the consumer's desires and needs. This mean that often, choice of a consumer is inspired by the shape of a product. Therefore, It might be interesting to study on perception of shape in terms of semantic associa...
