Introduction
Jan P.M. van Tatenhove was trained in sociology (MSc and PhD). He is Applied Research Professor Coastal & Marine Systems at Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences, Leeuwarden (the Netherlands) and Professor of Marine Governance and Maritime Spatial Planning at the Centre for Blue Governance Aalborg University (Denmark). He was Professor of Marine Governance at the Environmental Policy Group of Wageningen University (2010 - 2018)
