This project sheds light on the often-obscured political aspects of policy implementation – those unanticipated outcomes which are shaped by changing political contexts, corporate lobby, industrial adaptation to government regulation, and the intersection or clash with other arenas and levels of the state. It examines three cases related to obesity-prevention, each with arguably unintended effects: agricultural subsidies and nutritional supplement programs, restrictive legislation and policing the food supply environment.
