Data
The complex combination of tectonic and climatic processes affected interbasinal connectivity, which resulted in the formation of characteristic Paratethyan rock units characterized by a local terminology that can create difficulties in broader correlations.
Data
A Google Earth KMZ file that contains the locations of the classic geological sites and sections from the Sout-Eastern Outer Carpathians Basin.

At the end of the Eocene, the demise of the Tethys Ocean led to the formation of one of the largest anoxic seas in the last 50 million years of Earth history. This long-lived anoxic water body, named Paratethys, covered large parts of central Eurasia and functioned as a major carbon sink for 15-20 million years, characterised by the deposition of c...

The aim of this study is to evaluate the thermal maturity of Upper Badenian (Middle Miocene) petroleum source rocks of the Getic Depression, Romania, and to characterize the dispersed organic matter using organic petrography associated with Rock-Eval pyrolysis. A total of 33 core samples of Upper Badenian source rocks from the central–southern part...

This paper presents the results of the petroarchaeological analysis of lithic raw materials from the Upper Palaeolithic site of Românești-Dumbrăvița I. The recent archaeological investigations included field surveys for possible raw material supply sources near the site and petrographic analyses of archaeological and geological samples. The field s...

This study tested the possible connection of diverse multi-layered Upper Palaeolithic sites through the long-distance transfers of lithic raw materials across different regions of present-day Romania. Based on the petrographic analysis, several distant raw materials were recognized in the study sites: Lower Danube Valley cherts, Sita Buzăului chert...

Prezentarea Trilogiei Resursele minerale ale României (coord. E.Constantinescu și N.Anastasiu). Cuprinsul celor trei volume: 2015-Minerale industriale și roci utile; 2017 - Minerale metalice și minereuri; 2019-Resurse energetice.
Article
The aims of this study include the evaluation and interpretation of Oligocene source rocks from the Central-Western part of the Getic Depression, Romania, and the identification of their maturation and their hydrocarbon potential. 24 argillite samples belonging to the source rocks were studied using organic petrography and geochemistry methods, inc...

The Filipesti de Padure lignite is thermally immature with the maximum temperature (Tmax) of Rock-Eval pyrolysis ranging from 339.5 °C to 414 °C. The presence of high TOC values and HI values between 163 and 241mg HC/gTOC, with mixed Type II/III kerogen suggest that the Filipesti de Padure lignite has the potential to generate both oil and gaseous...

The organic matter is identified as being predominantly Type II kerogen (oil - prone) grading it in mixed Type II-III kerogen (oil and gas – prone) as indicated by hydrogen index values (115 – 311 mg HC/gTOC). This is supported by the presence of the significant amounts of oil-prone liptinite macerals.

Introducerea aduc...
Conference Paper
This study describes the burial history and sedimentological aspects of Upper Jurassic limestone from southern part of Western Carpathians. Several analyses propose a new view for diagenetic evolution of carbonate deposits corelated to tectonic evolution. Previous studies have been focused on paleontological character of this sedimentary deposits,...

This article focuses on the petrographic analysis of chert samples from the Lower Danube Valley, Romania, between West of Olt Valley and East of Mostiştea Valley (Upper Palaeolithic sites and modern quarries in gravels of Frăteşti Formation and Danube terrace deposits). Macroscopic examination of hand specimens established visual characteristics of...

Characterization of Oligocene marine outcrop from Teleajen Valley of Eastern Carpathian by: - values of reflectance vitrinite; - determining the quality of the hydrocarbon source rock; - determining the thermal maturity of these rocks.
Article
Geochemical procedures offer valuable insights about contouring the spatial distribution of a lead zone and prioritizing further depth investigations suitable to be applied. Data interpretation of Rock-Eval and preliminary X-Ray Diffraction results was done for dysodile shale samples collected from Oligocene outcrops of Getic Depression interest ar...

Continental deposits especially conglomerates have always been a challenge to geologists because of the lack of fauna and of the petrographic diversity of their particles. The continental deposits located in the south - western part of the Transylvanian Basin make no exception. This paper presents the sedimentological and facial features of the Şar...
