Introduction
Dr. Iván Dueñas-Espín is a family physician with a degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE, Quito, 2008), a Master's in Public Health, and a PhD in Biomedicine from the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF, Barcelona, 2013 and 2016, respectively). He serves as a full-time professor at the Faculty of Medicine at PUCE and as a public health professional at the Instituto de Salud Pública (ISP) at the same university.
