This paper studies the impact of Palestinian workers' remittances from Israel and its volatility on Palestinian economic growth using quarterly data over the period 2000-2016. A joint estimation of a vector error correction and multivariate generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity models are applied for such purpose. Cointegration...
We used data from the 2017 World Bank Global Findex database to investigate the main individual characteristics that are associated to the financial inclusion in Palestine. To do so, logistic regression models are applied. The results indicate that being a rich, educated, employed male and being an older person increase the likelihood of being fina...
Abstract
Keywords: Hemoglobin Level; Iron-Deficiency Anemia; Iron-Rich Diet; Eating Behavior
Introduction
Background: Hemoglobin levels might not predict pre-anemic states neither do they predict signs and symptoms of iron deficiency in healthy people. Poor dietary habits along with other risk factors might predict risk of developing anemia. Aims:...

Background: Hemoglobin levels might not predict pre-anemic states neither do they predict signs and symptoms of iron deficiency
in healthy people. Poor dietary habits along with other risk factors might predict risk of developing anemia.
Aims: We aim at determining the risk factors associated with prediction of pre-anemia and the level of...
Palestine is Hepatitis B moderate endemic country. Hepatitis B carrier stage ranges from 2-6%. Liver cancer incidence rates are 2.6 and 0.7 per 100,000 in males and females, respectively. Several genetic mutations within HB virus have been identified lately in Palestine. Annual liver ultrasonography for detection of HCC in addition to monthly Nucle...
The relationship between exports, imports and economic growth is investigated for the Palestinian economy over the period 2000-2018, using quarterly data. To do so, cointegration test using Johansen's approach as well as vector error correction technique are used. Findings confirm the presence of long-run equilibrium relationship between exports, i...
This research studies how the Israeli-Palestinian conflict affects Palestine, Israel and Jordan stock markets, as well as the links between these markets on a daily basis. A violence index is built and used as an exogenous variable in a VECM-MGARCH model. Our findings suggest the existence of an equilibrium relationship between the three markets, w...
Interdependence between first and second moments of producer and consumer wheat prices in Slovenia is assessed, in light of the recent major historical events that the country has undergone, as well as the recent rumours of cartel agreements between millers causing a decline in farm-gate prices, while leaving consumer prices untouched. A threshold...
The effects of consumer ethnocentrism, animosity and product judgments on Palestinian consumer intention to purchase Israeli products was analyzed. To do so, a questionnaire was built, tested and distributed to a sample of 1550 Palestinian consumers in three main cities. Factor as well as multiple regression techniques were then applied. Results in...
This chapter characterizes price transmission processes along a wide range of different food marketing chains within the European Union (EU) and explains the differences and/or the similarities that exist between them. Results demonstrate the occurrence of symmetric price adjustment in two-thirds of the markets considered. Producer prices are found...
Interdependence between first and second moments of producer and consumer wheat prices in Slovenia is assessed. A joint estimation of a threshold vector error and MGARCH models with exogenous variables in the conditional mean and conditional covariance equations are applied for such purpose. Results indicate that price-level adjustments mainly favo...
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to assess price linkages and patterns of transmission among producer and consumer markets for apple in Slovenia.
Design/methodology/approach – Non-linear error correction models are applied. Non-linearities are allowed by means of threshold and multivariate local linear regression estimation techniques. Monthl...

Multivariate local linear regression and parametric error correction models are applied to assess price linkages and price transmission patterns between food and energy prices in Spain. Weekly biodiesel, sunflower and crude oil prices observed from November 2006 to October 2010 are used in the empirical analysis. Results suggest the existence of a...
A bivariate Smooth Transition Vector Error Correction Model is applied to monthly poultry price data to analyze the effects that avian influenza has had on price transmission along the Egyptian poultry marketing chain. In order to reflect consumer awareness of the crisis, an avian influenza food scare information index is developed and used within...
In recent years, there have been a large number of studies that have applied time series econometric techniques to study price transmission covering both spatial and vertical aspects of this process. In this paper, we highlight some of the more recent developments and how they extend the now standard vector error correction models. Particular atten...
In recent years, health risks have received increasing attention among consumers and created interest in analysing the relationship between food scares, food consumption and market prices. One of the most relevant and recent food scares is the avian influenza that has had important effects not only on human and animal health, but also on the econom...
A regime-switching vector error correction model is applied to monthly price data to assess the impact of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) outbreaks on price relationships and patterns of transmission among farm and retail markets for bovines in Spain. To evaluate the degree to which price transmission is affected by BSE food scares, a BSE fo...

In this paper we show how regime-switching vector error correction models can be used to assess the effects of food scares on price transmission along the food marketing chain. Our empirical implementation focuses on the impacts of the BSE crisis on price relationships and patterns of transmission among farm and retail markets for bovine in Spain....
