M.N.I.A.R. is a methodology based on macroscopy and modeling images tools. In this case historical mortars are analyzed with high resolution lens and microscopes obtaning a sequence of pictures. Images processing are developed with appropiate software towards obtaining results in relation with micro-stratigraphy, size and distribution of aggregates, chemical reaction in binder, presence of organic material, pathologies, etc.
We are currently working to improve the technique and to be applied in other kind of material.
