This project is aimed to develop an integrated Geographic Information System for an accurate setting of surface solar irradiance maps (SSI) provided by the World Bank Group and other GIS and satellite raster databases, merging local sources of information provided by local stakeholders, which will enable the further consideration of vulnerability zones. The output of the projects should provide decision tools for government and industry sectors, aiming the planning of large-scale solar power plants in the West Kalimantan area (Indonesia).

This project is aimed to develop an integrated Geographic Information System for an accurate setting of surface solar irradiance maps (SSI) provided by the World Bank Group and other GIS and satellite raster databases, merging local sources of information provided by local stakeholders, which will enable the further consideration of vulnerability zones. The output of the projects should provide decision tools for government and industry sectors, aiming the planning of large-scale solar power plants in the West Kalimantan area (Indonesia). This project is supported by the Institutional Links grant 413871894, under the Newton Fund Indonesia partnership. The grant is funded by the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the Indonesian Ristekdikti (Kementerian Riset Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi - Ministry of Research, Technology, Higher Education), and delivered by the British Council. To carry out the project, we invite researchers with Master or Doctoral degree in Geographic Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or any other relevant subject to apply for Research Assistant / Research Associate (3 positions) that will be based in Pontianak, Indonesia. The positions are full-time positions with fixed term contract for 12 months. The salary is ranging form Rp 184,000,000 (IDR) to Rp 277,000,000 (IDR) per annum depending on the level experience and qualifications. For further information, please contact: Dr Harold S.
