Introduction
I am interested in ornithology mainly on shorebird species. Currently, a PhD student at School of Life and Environmental Sciences at Deakin University. My research focuses on the population dynamics of migratory shorebirds to understand their peril condition along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway. Around 40 years of banding and re-sighting data of Victorian Wader Study Group and Australasian Wader Studies Group will be handled as a part of my study by merging with climate change factors.

Bangladesh hosts most of what is left of Indian Skimmer (Rhynchops albicollis) populations, a globally endangered species. Each October-March from 2015-2020, 21 surveys of nonbreeding birds were made in Nijhum Dweep National Park, Bangladesh. High tide or evening roosts were counted from vantage points whenever a buildup or breakdown of skimmer con...

The Black-tailed Godwit Limosa limosa is a globally Near Threatened species but a common winter visitor to Bangladesh. Although the total wintering population size and trend are unknown, we suspect it is declining due to habitat degradation. Nijhum Dweep National Park is one of the most important sites for Black-tailed Godwits in Bangladesh. Here w...

Nijhum Dweep National Park lacks a detailed inventory of aquatic fauna including fish. This study reported the diversity and abundance of fish along with their conservation status from the surrounding waters of the national park to fill the knowledge gap. Fish samples were collected randomly from 16 spots of surrounding water of the park between Oc...

Few studies have specifically addressed the global impact of roads on the mortality rates of amphibian populations and no studies have assessed road effects on amphibians in Bangladesh before this study. Forested areas are heavily fragmented by human habitation, roads and railway lines in Bangladesh. The total length of roads has increased over t...

Sightings of aberrant-plumaged shorebirds are few across the world. Here, we report sightings of a Common Redshank Tringa totanus (hereafter Redshank) with partially white feathers from Nijhum Dweep National Park, Bangladesh. short communication Wader Study 127(3)

Migratory shorebirds are known for their spectacular long-distance movements between northern breeding grounds and wintering grounds further south. But shorebirds have suffered considerable declines because their migratory habits also make them susceptible to threats in many different parts of the world. Migratory shorebirds are therefore in need o...

Saint Martin's Island is an Ecologically Critical Area and only coral associated island in Bangladesh but wader status of this area is unknown. Here I report the status, site use and threats of waders in the island during their winter season from October 2016 to March 2017. Waders were counted along the shoreline of the island once in a month and c...

Nijhum Dweep national park is an important biodiversity rich area in Bangladesh and people of this area are heavily dependent on fishing for their livelihoods. however, information on fish diversity, abundance, stock size and harvesting amount largely unknown. The study was conducted to collect the primary data on diversity and conservation status...

Despite being an Ecologically Critical Area (ECA) and a key attraction place for its uniqueness and unique bird fauna to the bird watchers and researchers, a method-based, scientific checklist on the avifauna of the Saint Martin’s Island is still lacking. This study was attempted to fill in this gap and produced an annotated bird checklist for the...

Saint Martin’s Island is an Ecologically Critical Area (ECA) but avifaunal status of this ECA is unknown. This study was conducted to reveal the present avifaunal status in Saint Martin’s Island of Bangladesh between April 16 and March 17. Two survey methods: a transect line survey across the island and shorebird survey along the shoreline of the i...
