Introduction
I have been studing on agricultural biotechnology. On the other hand, I also working on viticulture. Nowadays, I have been studing on TUBITAK COST (CA17111) project about QTL mapping of resistance to Botrytis cinerea in the F1 population in grape. Also, I have been studing TUBITAk project about QTL mapping of resistance of F1 carnation population to Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. dianthi race 2 and development of local resistant varieties.

Some of several species are grown commercially for a variety of uses herbal medicine, and food. Its most common use is as cut flower worldwide. Gypsophila species are native and widely distributed in Turkey that is the main gene...
The genotypic classification of the genetic resources and development of molecular markers for important traits could be very informative for breeding programs. The aim of the study was to analyze the genetic relationship within and between the male and female fig (Ficus carica L.) population and perform association analysis for developing molecula...
Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. dianthi (Prill and Delacr.) (Fod) is a causal agent of wilt disease of carnation (Dianthus caryophyflus L.) with its different physiological races. Although eleven physiological races of Fod have been reported in the world, a polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based diagnostic tool was developed for identification of Fod races...
Fusarium oxysporum Schlecht. f.sp. melongenae (FOM), Verticillium dahliae (Ve) and Ralstonia solanacearum are major limiting pathogens affecting eggplant cultivation and their yield in the world. Natural resistance genes are the most environmentally friendly method to control the disease. Thus, marker-assisted selection (MAS) is preferred as a tool...

Mandarin (Citrus reticulate Blanco) and lemon (C.limon L.) are among the most cultivated Citrus species in the world.Among
different approaches, gamma radiation is widely used to induce mutations in citrus breeding studies. Gamma radiation causes DNA
damage, randomly inducing several mutations in the genome. Molecular techniquesarewidely used to de...
Genetic diversity of melon in Turkey is very high. A common pathogen in Turkey is powdery mildew (Podosphaera xanthii race 5), which restricts melon cultivation. The chemicals used against the pathogen causes negative effects on environment and human health and additionally increase expenses. One of the best solutions to fight against the disease i...
Pepper is one of the widely grown vegetable crops in the world. Many pests and pathogens cause to yield loses in pepper. One of the most important diseases in the pepper production is spotted wilt disease caused by Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV). The best way for the control of the disease is to use resistant cultivars. The aim of this study was...
Botrytis cinerea (teleomorph: Botryotinia fuckeliana) causes gray mold disease on vegetable crops in greenhouses. Profound knowledge on pathogen diversity is necessary for efficiently disease management. In this study, forty-two B. cinerea isolates collected from 36 different greenhouses in Antalya province of Turkey were investigated. Twelve SRAP...
Lemon ( Citrus limon L. Burm. F.; Rutaceae) is one of the most important commercial and nutritional fruits in the world. Therefore, it needs to be improved for the diverse needs of consumers and crop breeders. Breeders have attempted to eliminate undesirable characteristics in plants and develop new varieties with desired characteristics that meet...
Root-knot nematodes, Meloidogyne incognita, M. javanica and M. arenaria, cause serious yield losses in protected growing areas in Turkey. They also show a‘co-infection’ profile in fields’ soil microflora. In this study, we designed multiplex primers for detecting all three species simultaneously. Additionally, the confidence and definition of this...
Botrytis cinerea is a polyphagous fungal pathogen causing gray mold disease. Moreover, it is one of the most destructive infections of small fruit crops such as pepper (Capsicum annnum L.). C. sativum is a species belonging to the Solanaceae family and Turkey is one of the main producers in the World. In the present work, aiming to obtain informati...
The host resistance level of pure line materials was assessed in the genepool for the purpose of breeding. The highest resistance to the pathogen was observed in bell-type pepper. Moreover, genetic diversity of pure lines was investigated using selected inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) primers. Generally, genetic markers showed genetic diversity...
The aim of this study was to diagnos bacterial speck of tomato (Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato) pathogen
using biochemical and molecular methods and to determine genetical diversity of Pst isolates by using ISSR and
SRAP molecular markers. In the study, survey studies were carried out in West Mediterranean Region to collect
bacterial pathogen of t...
Three- to four-year-old Japanese plum trees (Prunus salicina L.) in a commercial orchard of Antalya Province showed symptoms of decline in July-August 2015. The aerial symptoms were leaf discoloration and twig dieback, and most of the affected trees were leafless. Reddish brown cankers developing from the root to the stem base were observed. Latera...
Young olive trees showing wilting and trunk cankers were observed in an orchard in Antalya province, Turkey. The aerial symptoms associated with reddish brown cankers expanding from the root collar to the stem were leaf discoloration, defoliation, and twig dieback. A Phytophthora sp. was consistently isolated from necrotic root and crown tissues of...
Golden berry (Physalis peruviana L.) is a fruit a variety of functional food properties (Hassanien 2011); it is produced in many countries and its production has increased in Turkey (Gerçekcioğlu and Ergür 2013). Botryotinia fuckeliana (syn. Botrytis cinerea) is a widespread phytopathogenic fungus affecting most plants, causing gray mold rot or bot...
Mutation breeding is considered to be successful in order to obtain new cultivars and expanding the genetic source of new varieties of lemon and mandarin in Citrus. In this study, different doses of gamma radiation (60 Co) have been used to generate novel mutants of the common variety Yerli Yuvarlak lemon and Yerli mandarin. The differences within...
Sweet orange [Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck] fruit is one of the main citrus fruits, Navel and Valencia group sweet orange being the most representative and recognizable species of this species. The aims of this study were to determine genetic relationships and diversity of 84 Navel and 36 Valencia groups of sweet orange using SSR (simple sequence re...
Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melonis (FOM) is one of the most important fungal diseases in melon cultivation. The four races called 0, 1, 2 and 1-2 for FOM have been identified. Although all of FOM races are seen in our country, races 1 and 2 are the most common. Fungicides are used to provide control of this disease. However, fungicides don’t provide...
Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is an increasingly important fruit crop that is widely cultivated in Turkey. Typical bacterial blight symptoms were observed since spring of 2011 in pomegranate orchards located in Antalya Province. Symptoms were characterized by dark brown, angular to irregularly shaped spots on leaves and fruit; cankers on stems,...
Downy mildew caused by Pseudoperonospora cubensis is a major disease of cucurbits worldwide. New genotypes of the pathogen have recently appeared in the USA, EU and Israel causing breakdown of genetic resistance, expansion of host range, and the appearance of a new A2 mating type. Seventy-eight P. cubensis isolates were collected during 1996–2011 f...
