Description
  • My research field is broadly in the field of neuroscience, with a specific focus on neurodegeneration and neurotoxicology. My current research activities are focused on the role heavy metals such as manganese, nickel, and iron, among others, play in triggering neurotoxicity that may impact neuronal health and pose significant risks for brain disorders. My current research tries to explore the interplay between natural gut microbiomes and gene-environment interactions via the gut-brain axis.

The phenotypic manifestation of lead toxicity includes cognitive, learning, and memory decline which is associated with neuronal injuries and death and been a major challenge in public health especially in developing countries. Thus, we explore the prophylactic potentials of luteolin in prefrontal Pb intoxication. Thirty-six (36) male Wistar Rats w...

Tephrosia bracteolata Guill. & Perr. (Fabaceae) has been used crudely in Nigeria for the treatment of diabetes. This study was carried out to determine the antidiabetic activity, possible mechanism of action through the inhibition of the activities of α-amylase and α-glucosidase, and also to establish its safety. Sub-chronic toxicological studie...

Introduction: This study aimed at assessing the protective mechanisms of Kolaviron (KV) on the cerebellum in a rat model of demyelination. Methods: Twenty-eight male Wistar rats were used in the present study. They were randomly divided into 4 groups of 7 rats. Group A (control) received corn oil (0.5 mL/kg/d); group B received 0.2% Cuprizone (C...

Multiple sclerosis is a demyelinating condition of the central nervous system which commonly affects young adults. Kolaviron, a biflavonoid isolate of Garcinia kola, has been used in experimental studies which explored its anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory and anti-genotoxic properties. This work was aimed at unraveling the possible ameliorative ef...
