Project
This project will be focused on the investigation of renewable energy sources potential capabilities to provide initial inertia response and ancillary services. Additionally, it will be focused on the establishment of regulatory and technical frameworks that will enable such potential. The project will in its first part identify current dynamic characteristics of the Croatian power system and identify impact current wind power shares have on system inertia. Future trends of inertia characteristics will be forecasted based on future development plans and predicted future RES installed capacities. Different technical characteristics of wind power generators will be analysed alongside the requirements of current grid rules regarding the connection to the power grid. In the second part of the project the ability of wind power plants to provide support to the system balance through the control of inertia response and active power change after disturbances occurrence. The method to enable response of wind power generators similar to conventional generators during initial and transient segments of frequency response will be suggested. Current regulatory and technical framework will be identified and suggestion for future participation of wind power plants in frequency and active power regulation which would increase the stability of power system and increase the capability to accept new RES capacities will be suggested.

Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to invite you to the 13th Conference on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems – SDEWES Conference, to be held September 30 - October 4, 2018 in “Splendid Hotel La Torre” hotel in Palermo, Italy. SDEWES Conference is dedicated to the improvement and dissemination of knowledge on methods, policies and technologies for increasing the sustainability of development. Thus, SDEWES2018 will be an essential venue for researchers in those areas to meet, and originate, discuss, share, and disseminate new ideas. Please visit and explore our conference website at http://www.palermo2018.sdewes.org/ and do not hesitate to contact us via the official conference email:sdewes2018@sdewes.org. SDEWES2018 will bring you invited lectures from prominent experts in the field, panels and poster sessions as well as technical visits and a rich social programme. Presenting a paper on SDEWES2018 is also a great way to get your paper published in special issues of our partner journals. Register here for the Conference and don't miss out information and updates about SDEWES2018. Kind regards, Prof. Neven Duić, Conference Co-Chair, University of Zagreb SDEWES2018 Organizing Committee
