We are a group of researchers from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay with a common interest in the study of fish and their parasites. Goal: The main objective of this project is to study the diversity, systematics, and ecology of isopod parasitic of fishes from Neotropical and Antactic areas under an integrative approach with a focus on members of the Cymothoidae and Gnathiidae.

The goal of this project is to taxonomically evaluate all the available material and populations of Gymnogeophagus, with emphasis of those from Argentina and Uruguay, in order to asses the distribution and diversity of species in these countries and their phylogenetic position using morphology and molecular evidence to delimitate species boundaries, distribution, biogeography and phylogeny.
