This study used seeds of two endemic sage plants (Salvia siirtica and Salvia kronenburgii) as a starting material. Mucilage causes dormancy in the seeds of these plants. Therefore, it is important to improve the germination performance of these plants’ seeds, and in this study, some treatments were applied to the seeds before or during sowing. To t...
Salinity stress is one of the most important stress barriers to crop production worldwide. Developing and implementing new strategies against salinity stress is critical for increasing agricultural productivity and supporting sustainable farming. Elicitors such as nanoparticles and Salicylic acid have recently been used potentially for better produ...
The study investigated total phenolic-flavonoid content, antioxidant activity, and phytochemical compounds across various parts (bulb, stem, leaf, and flower) of the endemic Bellevalia sasonii , commonly known as hyacinth, belonging to the Asparagaceae family. Phenolic content was highest in bulb extracts (117.28 μg GAE) and lowest in stems (45.11...
Despite resistance to abiotic stresses, some plant species may still show low resistance to pathogens. This biotic stress resistance can provide advantage and increase productivity in agricultural systems. However, while there is extensive research on the pathways involved in abiotic stress tolerance, the impact on the molecular mechanisms underlyi...
One of the most significant abiotic factors that has a negative impact on wheat productivity globally is drought. To comprehend the impacts of drought on wheat and propose remedies, numerous studies are carried out on various wheat varieties. In this study, 50 µM of methyl jasmonate (MeJA) was applied to tolerant Gün 91 and sensitive Bezostaja whea...
Sex identification in Pistacia species is economically important for pistachio producers because their long juvenile period delays crop production and gains. Since there is no easy method to identify sex during the juvenile period of this plant, morphological and physiological methods are expected to help in sex identification at the juvenile stage...
Physiological and biochemical responses of six different rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties cultivated in Turkey and two local varieties, namely Karacadağ and Hazro to the drought were investigated. After 12 days of drought treatment, the highest and lowest OP values were observed in Osmancık-97 (-1.14 MPa) and Karacadağ (-1.55 MPa) varieties, respec...
P. khinjuk Stocks, known as Bıttım or Buttum in Turkey, is a member of the Anacardiaceae family. The essential oil of khinjuk pistachio has been used to treat various illnesses because of their anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antipyretic, antibacterial, anthelmintic, antiviral effects in various folk medicines. At the same time, fruits of khinjuk pi...
Ajuga xylorrhiza Kit Tan is a rare endemic perennial species growing in the stony habitats in Southeastern Anatolia region,
Turkey. An efficient and reproducible protocol has been developed for micropropagation of endangered Ajuga xylorrhiza. Shoots
were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal medium, supplemented with various concentrations of...

Since the seeds of endemic Ajuga vestita are difficult to germinate naturally they were subjected to in vitro culture. Highest rate of germination was obtained in 1/4 MS medium supplemented with 30 g sucrose in light. Microshoots subcultured in 1/1 MS supplemented with 0.125 mg/l Kn rooted well and transferred to soil with 80% success.
Tayfi (Vitis vinifera L.) only grown in the Southeastern Anatolia Region provides a major contribution on the economy of the region people. But, the research related to nutritional content of this species was not found. This study was carried out to determine the total phenolic, flavonoids, sugar content and antioxidant activity of different organe...
Ajuga vestita Boiss. belongs to Lamiaceae family genus Ajuga, rare endemic species that grows in the Southeastern Anatolia and known hazard categories "Endangered (EN)" is. The generation of very high risk of extinction in the wild and has limited expansion of these rare endemic species, aimed be conserved and propagation made to in vitro culture t...
The study aims to evaluate the role of germination conditions for almond [Prunus dulcis (Mill.) D.A. Webb] seeds. For the experiments in vitro germination, sterile almond seeds were cultured on 1/4 MS+100 mM NaCl, 1/4 MS (Murashige and Skoog) medium and for the control group on agar medium (agar and water only). The media used in the experiments wa...
The study involves the determination of the effects of salinity levels on seedling growth of almond (Prunus dulcis (Mill.) D.A. Webb) grown under in vitro conditions. The seeds of almond were used as explants to initiate in vitro cultures and germinated on agar (7 g/L) medium (agar and water only). The shoots (2 to 3 cm long) were cultured on MS me...
The study was aimed to evaluate the effects of UV-B radiation on fatty acid content and antioxidant activity of a methanolic extract of Hypericum retusum Aucher plantlets grown under in vitro conditions. Therefore, the plantlets were exposed to UV-B radiation for different durations (Ti: 15, T-2: 30, T-3: 45, T-4: 60 min) The UV-B application led t...
Some quality characteristics of berries i.e., total sugar, titrable acidity, pH and soluble solid were determined for 23 clones of Vitis vinifera L. cv. Kalecik Karasi. Significant differences (p<0.05) were recorded for the quality characteristics among clones. Glucose and fructose content ranged from 120.59 to 136.45 and 112.505 to 123.185 g L -1,...
