iam extracting vegetation cover and water bodies using MSAVI2 and MNDWI indices to detect change detection, but I need to extract the urban and built up areas as well to show their contribution on the land cover change, if some one shows me an index for urban and built up areas extraction, that will be highly appreciated.

This unique book focuses on Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in Iraq. The environmental applications include monitoring and mapping soil salinity, and prediction of soil properties as well, monitoring and mapping of land threats, proximal sensing for soil monitoring and soil fertility, spatiotemporal land use/cover, agricultural drought monitoring, and sand dunes. It contains chapters of the hydrological applications including spatial rainfall distribution, surface runoff, and drought monitoring, geo-morphometric analysis and flood simulation, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and the effective management of water resources as well. Additionally, it includes assessing the impacts of climate change on natural resources using both RS and GIS, as well as to other applications to cover different parts of Iraq. The book starts with an introduction to facilitate the use of the book and end with a set of conclusions and recommendations to enhance the benefits of the book. The book chapters included tens of maps extracted from the remotely sensed datasets, in addition to tables and statistical relationships obtained from the results of the studies of the authors of the chapters. Those studies have been conducted in different parts of Iraq; in the north (Kurdistan region) where the mountainous and undulating lands, in western parts where the desert soils, and in the middle and southern Iraq where salty soils, sand dunes, wetlands, and marshes. The book is written by distinguished scientists, experts, and academics from Iraq, China, USA, Italy, Iran, Germany, UK, and the Czech Republic who are interested in Iraq environment. The book is, therefore, a very useful source of update data, information, and knowledge on Iraq environment for graduate students, researchers, policy planners, decision makers, and stakeholders as well.
