Two new symmetrical Mn(II) and Cd(II) pentaaza macrocyclic Schiff base complexes were prepared via templated [1 + 1] cyclocondensation of 2,6 diacetylpyridine and an amine containing homopiperazine moiety in the presence of related metal ions.
