Introduction
I hold a PhD in health economics, with main research interest in the health economics of the spine, in particular low back pain. I am currently the general manager of the Westfjords Healthcare Institute (Heilbrigðisstofnun Vestfjarða), a rural institution in Iceland with two hospitals, primary care facilities and nursing homes.
