Conventional solid state reaction method, from oxides and carbonates, was employed to prepare bismuth (Bi)-based multiferroic systems. The undoped BiFeO3 (BFO) and the codoped system with Ba, La and Ti (Bi1−xBaxFe1−yTiyO3, Bi1−x−zBaxLazFe1−yTiyO3) with x,y,z=0.1 were prepared stoichiometrically and sintered at two different temperatures. The struct...

This work investigates the range of existence of the D 1-phase in Pr 95−x Fe x C 5 (15 ≤ x ≤ 65) alloys. A comparative study of the microstructure of this alloy system, in the as-cast state and after annealing at 600 • C, was carried out. In as-cast samples with 15 ≤ x ≤ 55, besides the presence of Pr grains and large needles, a quite corrosive pha...

This work investigates the range of existence of the D1-phase in Nd95−xFexC5 (15⩽x⩽65) alloys. A comparative study of the microstructure of this alloy system, in the as-cast state and after annealing at 600°C, was carried out. In as-cast samples with 15⩽x⩽45, besides the presence of Nd grains and large needles, quite corrosive Nd-based carbides are...

A magnetic study of Pr80Fe15(B1−xCx)5 alloys with low B-content (0.85⩽x⩽1.00) in the as-cast state and annealed at 600°C has been performed. In as-cast samples, a metastable eutectic phase A1 is present in all samples. For x=1.00 in as-cast state, coarse and quite corrosive carbides are also present. With thermal treatment at 600°C for 2 h, these p...

A magnetic analysis of Nd80Fe15(B1−xCx)5 alloys with very low B content (0.85≤x≤1.00) in the as-cast state and after annealing at 600°C has been performed. In as-cast samples a metastable eutectic phase, labeled in the literature as A1, is responsible for the magnetic properties at room temperature. It was confirmed that the hard magnetic phase ref...

The temperature dependence of saturation magnetization, sigma(s), intrinsic coercivity, iHc, and ac-magnetic susceptibility, chi(ac), from 4.2 to 300 K were studied for RE80Fe15C5 samples. The magnetic analysis of Nd80Fe15(B1-xCx)(5) alloys with very low B-content (0.85 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 1.00) was also carried out. The l...

In as-cast Pr80Fe15(B1−xCx)5, samples metastable A1 (Tc=225 °C) was the predominant magnetic phase in the whole composition range, with intrinsic properties that were not affected with increasing C content. Up to x=0.75 this phase coexists with an additional minor magnetic phase having Tc=263 °C which has been labelled by us to as A3. Upon annealin...
Article
Magnetic and microstructural studies have been performed in as-cast and annealed Nd80Fe15(B1−xCx)5, 0.0 ⩽ x ⩽ 1.0, alloys in order to study the magnetic phases that form upon C addition. In as-cast samples, metastable A1 (Tc = 245°C; 1Hc around 4–5 kOe) was the predominant phase in the whole composition range, with intrinsic properties that were no...

A W-type hexagonal ferrite of composition Sr(ZnLi0.5Fe0.5)Fe16O27 has been prepared by ceramic technique using ball milling followed by heat treatment at 1100, 1200 and 1320°C for different times. The samples were examined by thermomagnetic analysis, X-ray diffraction, magnetic and Mössbauer measurements. W-type single-phase compounds were obtained...

The presence of minor magnetic phases in as-cast Nd80Fe15B5, Nd21Fe73.5B5.5 and Nd16(Fe1−x)76B8 (0.0⩽x⩽0.15) permanent magnetic alloys has been investigated. Magnetic phases having a Curie temperature of 245°C (A1 metastable phase), 292°C (A3 phase) and 170°C (M1 phase) were observed in NdFeB and Nd(Fe, A1)B alloys, respectively. An analy perfo...
Conference Paper
The presence of minor magnetic phases in as-cast Nd80Fe15B5, Nd21Fe73.5B5.5 and Nd16(Fe1−x Alx )76B8 (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.15), has been investigated. Metastable phases having a Curie temperature of 245 °C (A 1 phase) and 170 °C (M 1 phase) were observed in Nd-Fe-B and Nd-(Fe, Al)-B alloys, respectively. A magnetic study performed on the as-cast series Nd85...
