Conference Paper
Conventional methods of wastewater treatment sludge disposal, such as land disposal, storage, and burial, pose financial and environmental challenges. This research introduces an innovative facility that not only addresses sludge disposal but also utilizes it for energy production, surpassing the efficiency of lignite-based energy production. The f...

Natural gas has become a vital energy source due to its abundant availability and relatively low carbon emissions. However, the presence of impurities, such as sulfur compounds, nitrogen compounds, and acidic gases, poses significant challenges in both efficiently using natural gas and addressing its environmental impact. This chapter provides a co...

In a study, five types of sludge from the "Ankara Central Wastewater Treatment Plant" were used as fuel in chemical looping combustion (CLC), with red mud from "Eti Aluminum" serving as an oxygen carrier. Techniques like SEM-EDX, XRD, and XRF analyzed the process's efficiency. The results indicated that red mud is effective as an oxygen carrier, ma...

This study evaluates various biomass sources, including wood waste, energy crops, sewage sludge, unused biomass, and algae, as potential renewable energy sources. It compares their ash content, volatile matter, and moisture content to brown coal, using ISO standards and calorimetric bomb testing. Findings show that biomass has a comparable higher h...

The need to find new, renewable energy sources is driven by the rise in global energy consumption. Plant biomass is one of the potential energy sources that the European Union considers to be renewable. However, the European Commission claims that biomass fuels can satisfy certain requirements, such as deriving from agricultural wastes or non-recyc...

The demand for energy has led to a search for new, renewable sources such as plant biomass. Biomass combustion can help achieve carbon neutrality if it meets specific criteria and emits 65% less greenhouse gases. Technical analysis is necessary to determine the quality of biomass as a fuel, which was done in this study using ISO standards.

Acrylonitrile (ACN) is an organic compound that has the chemical formula CH2CHCN and a molecular mass of 53.064. It consists of a vinyl group bonded to nitrile. Acrylonitrile is a colorless and volatile liquid. It is a polar molecule due to the nitrile functional group in the acrylonitrile structure. Although ACN is obtained in various ways, it is...

Sulfur dioxide has been used for many years in the food industry for the storage of food products with low pH such as canned fruit and vegetables. Since end of 17th century, sulfur dioxide has been used for the production of wine and beer. In wine production, SO2 is used directly in liquid form, as well as sulfur containing salts may also be used s...
