Introduction
I currently work at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council of Argentina (CONICET). I do research in Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Science and Experimental Psychology. My current works are concerned with specific types of reasoning, like compound negation, and counterfactual reasoning. I apply methods like experimentation, math modeling, computer simulation, and some techniques like eye-tracking and linguistic metrics algorithms.

Objective :This study aims to describe the relationship between personality and propositional reasoning regarding compound negations by using, in particular, De Morgan’s laws. Method :To evaluate personality traits, we used the Adjective Checklist for Personality Assessment, an instrument based on the Big Five theory and developed for the Argentin...

Olfaction plays an important role in human social communication, including multiple domains in which people often rely on their sense of smell in the social context. The importance of the sense of smell and its role can however vary inter-individually and culturally. Despite the growing body of literature on differences in olfactory performance or...

The objective of the present study was to perform a systematic review of studies on the process of decision making in children and adolescents diagnosed with attention defi cit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The search process was carried out from the databases PsycInfo, MedLine, ERIC, Redalyc, Scielo and PubMed, with key words in English and Spani...

We aimed to study how compound negation of conjunctions and disjunctions is understood and represented. In particular, we aimed to test time course predictions consistent with the Mental Models Theory of negation proposed in 2012 by Khemlani, Orenes, and Johnson-Laird. Consistent with this theory, we conjectured that the consideration of possibilit...

Human spatial behavior has been the focus of hundreds of previous research studies. However, the conclusions and generalizability of previous studies on interpersonal distance preferences were limited by some important methodological and sampling issues. The objective of the present study was to compare preferred interpersonal distances across the...

This work describes crossmodal Stroop interference in flavoural, visual, and auditory representations. A mixed design was used with two randomized groups. As a between-subjects factor, words were presented in visual (group 1) or auditory (group 2) forms. Stimulus congruency (congruent, incongruent, and control) was defined as a within-subjects fact...

Sex differences are often a crucial topic to be taken into account in certain developments in cognitive neuroscience. In the study of attention neural networks (phasic alerting, vigilance, orienting, executive control), there is not yet a consensus established and enlightening about the differences between men and women. This paper presents a revie...

We present three strategies to replace the null hypothesis statistical significance testing approach in psychological research: (1) visual representation of cognitive processes and predictions, (2) visual representation of data distributions and choice of the appropriate distribution for analysis, and (3) model comparison. The three strategies have...

Exploratory Factor Analysis and Principal Component Analysis are two data analysis methods that are commonly used in psychological research. When applying these techniques, it is important to determine how many factors to retain. This decision is sometimes based on a visual inspection of the Scree plot. However, the Scree plot may at times be ambig...

This study investigates why reasoning that involves negation is extremely difficult. We presented participants with reasoning problems containing sentences with negation of conjunctions and disjunctions in order to test predictions derived from the Mental Models Theory of human thought. According to this theory, reasoning consists of representing a...

The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between training on abstraction and the comprehension of logic rules. In order to evaluate the possibility of improvement on logic performance we have selected the particular case of the DeMorgan's laws. The dispute between the natural logic approach and the mental models theory is analyzed from...

This study aims to expand evidence about the stroop effect on cross-modalities of taste and incomplete visual stimuli. The specific case studied herein is for written words with missing letters. The stroop effect indicates some interference in working memory for information coming from different perceptual sources. In previous studies, congruence b...

The aim of this study is to introduce a novel reasoning phenomenon concerned with the shallow processing of negation in the context of sentential reasoning. By analogy to other psychological explanations that account for superficial responses with conditionals, this study proposes an account for biconditionals derived from a recent theory of negati...

The cross-modal integration is a highly adaptive mechanism in which information patterns are combined in order to provide more accurate information about the external properties of the environment. However, subjects are not always capable of processing two sources simultaneously. The aim of this study is to evaluate the processing interference betw...

Mathematical modelling of the anchoring effect on the underconfidence biasThe anchoring effect is defined as the tendency of human thought to the fixation on certain pieces of information that affect decision-making. In the same context, the underconfidence bias is understood as an agent’s propensity to underestimate his or her own objective perfor...

The Cliff's Delta statistic is a non-parametric effect size measure that quantifies the amount of difference between two groups of observations beyond p-values interpretation. This measure can be understood as a useful complementary analysis for the corresponding hypothesis testing. During the last two decades the use of effect size measures has be...

Calibration or confidence can be defined as the empirical convergence or divergence between the subjective success and the objective success achieved by a person in a series of tasks. Discrepancies between the two generate distortions known as calibration biases. The overconfidence bias is observed when the subjective success is greater than the ob...

Effect size measures are recognized as a necessary complement to statistical hypothesis testing because they provide important information that such tests alone cannot offer. In this paper we: a) briefly review the importance of effect size measures, b) describe some calculation algorithms for the case of the difference between two means, and c) pr...
