Introduction
Doctor in archaeology by the University of the Basque Country. My research focuses on the archaeology of the contemporary past. More particularly, I study the civil conflicts that emerged as a consequence of the arrival of the Contemporaneity in 19th century Spain. In this sense, my work deals with the material expression of the struggle between those who wanted to establish the liberal revolutions, hence, liberals, and those whose objective was to maintain the Ancien Regime

The process of implementing the liberal-bourgeois revolution was a transcendental event in Western history. The liberal revolutions of the eighteenth and, especially, nineteenth century, gave birth to a new world that sought to impose itself upon the traditional world, that of the Ancien Régime. The arrival of liberalism was not without conflicts,...

One of the major historical phenomena of the 19th century was the progressive implementation of the bourgeois revolution agenda. In this context of deep changes, the use of arms was commonplace, unleashing bloody and prolonged civil wars. Spain was no exception and was dragged into this global context where revolution and its reactionary forces fac...

The influence of the past on the present and the need to revise and update it are concerns that transcend the professional field of historians. The Restoration, the Civil War, Franco’s regime, the Transition, etc. The revision of such complex periods always entails the risk of forgetting part of the story. The importance of having mature, plural re...

This work analyses the applicability of "linear programming"-a mathematical methodology for modelling, by means of (in)equations, and optimizing systems-to the simulation of past events and uses, as a case study, the allocation of artillery pieces and bombs during the siege of Bilbao in 1874, a key episode of the Third Carlist War (1872-1876) in Sp...
