The aim of this study was to analyze the variations of acute load (AL), acute: chronic workload ratio (ACWR), training monotony (TM), and training strain (TS) of accelerometry-based GPS measures in players who started in three matches (S3M), two matches (S2M), and one match (S1M) during congested weeks. Nineteen elite professional male players from...

The present study aims to compare players' tactical behavior and performancein Small-Sided and Conditioned Games when playing against opponents from different age levels (Under-13 and Under-15). Participated in this study 93 players from U-13 (n=42) and U-15 (n=51) teams, who performed 7,416 tactical actions. The instrument used was the System of T...

This study aimed to analyze the intersession reliability of global positioning system (GPS-based) distances and accelerometer-based (acceleration) variables in small-sided soccer games (SSG) with and without the offside rule, as well as compare variables between the tasks. Twenty-four high-level U-17 soccer athletes played 3 versus 3 (plus goalkeep...

Question
Dear colleagues,
Congratulations for the conception of this project. I'm sure this is going to address important issues about decision-making development in soccer players.
Coincidentally, we have been conducting a similar research here in Brazil about changes in tactical behavior over a season, trying to understand how the knowledge (declarative and procedural), as a basis for the sports action, is developed. We use video-based decision-making tests, just like you, and a game-related test (GK3-3GK).
Our preliminary results showed no significant differences in option-generation over the season (video-based protocol). However, players achieved higher values of tactical efficacy (percentage of positive tactical principles). For this reason, we've been considering the hypothesis that game-related situations can measure these longitudinal changes more accurately than video tasks. In this context, expert players are, maybe, not only able in generating more and better options (what to do), but are the best in using these options to solve game-related problems (how to do).
What do you think about the possibility to assess players' decision-making in game-related situations? Would this help understand the role decision-making on the route to expertise?
Best regards,
Gibson
Question
Many studies have investigated different soccer small-sided games formats in order to find the effect of rule changes in tactical, technical, physical and physiological performances. In almost every protocol, warm-up activities are proposed, i.e. sprints, running, ball contacts and other. However, I couldn't find any reference to this choice. What is possible to speculate about the influence of the warm-up and the warm-up settings in soccer small-sided games?
Question
I've been looking for a method to calculate the effect size for data of tactical behavior, which is measured by counting the frequency of actions in tactical principles. The omega squares (w2) is used to calculate effect size in desings without repeated measures. Do you know another method to calculate it?
