Introduction
Giangiuseppe Pili is Research Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute for Defense and Security Studies. He is an external member of Intelligence Lab – Calabria University and a former Lecturer in the International Master in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies at Dublin City University in Ireland. He earned a Ph.D. in analytic philosophy from Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele (Milan, Italy).

I want to consider an ontological approach to war. The theory will be developed inside the analytic philosophy. My aim is to ground a general understanding of war looking to the military semantics consistently with the current theories of applied ontology (Standardized Classification Systems). Then, the goal is both practical and theoretical.
(1) I would like to provide a general account of the ontology of war.
(2) I want to solve many open problems inside the current theories of war, especially looking to the military strategical theories.
(3) I want to tackle the problem in a way that could be consistent with a formal approach but without the technicalities required by a logician.

I want to provide an epistemology of intelligence in order to solve some open problems in the field. We need to understand all the paradoxical and complex facets of the cycle of intelligence. To do that, we need a philosophical approach. And we need it now.
