As for my BSc project, I was concentrated on the mechanics of materials with an aim to design and model metal matrix nanocomposites to enhance its properties. I used the FSP method to fabricate St37 steel (as the most common material for pipelines) metal matrix composites reinforced with ZrO2 Nanoparticles. Considering the unique properties of ZrO2 Nanoparticles including its high strength and positive effect on the corrosion resistance of steel matrices, not only did our results showed better resistance to corrosion, but also the fracture toughness was improved.
