The new global gravity models represented by global spherical harmonics like EGM2008 require a high degree and order in their coefficients to resolve the gravity field in local areas; therefore, there are interests to represent the regional or local field by less parameters and to develop a parameter transformation from the global model to a local...

As concerns the use of RTCM observation correction data in GNSS positioning services, the coordinates are resulting within the ITRF or in a regional ITRF-realization (e.g. ETRF89) as geocentric (x,y,z) or ellipsoidal (B,L,h) coordinates. The users of GNSS services must however normally present their results in the coordinates of regional or local h...

Starting from 1999 a new reference system MOLDREF99 based on the ITRF97 and ETRS89 was established in Moldova. The realization of MOLDREF99 is the national GPS Network with density about 1 point per 15 sq. km. However, this density is insufficient for many geodetic applications. In order to provide real time positioning services the decision to pas...

In geodesy, civil engineering and related fields high accuracy coordinate determination is needed, for that reason GNSS technologies plays important role. Transformation from GNSS derived ellipsoidal heights to orthometric or normal heights requires a high accuracy geoid or quasi-geoid model, respectively the accuracy of the currently used Latvian...

The recent developments in spatial data collection, management and software require the availability of proper geodetic infrastructures for integrating different types and sources of coordinates without causing effective changes in positions. Nowadays, positions are mostly collected by GNSS data collectors based on WGS84/ITRF reference systems. The...

infrastructures for integrating diverse types and sources of coordinates without creating effective changes in positions is required by recent improvements in geographic data collecting, management, and software. Nowadays, GNSS data collectors based on the WGS84/ITRF reference systems are used to acquire locations. The data is then transformed and...

Nowadays, the use of modern and precise GNSS technologies for precise positioning is the most common tool for field surveyors. The output coordinate of GNSS are divided into geometric horizontal coordinates (latitude, longitude), or equivalently the mathematically transformed and projected coordinates (Easting, Northing), and the ellipsoidal Normal...

The use of GNSS technologies for precise point positioning enabled the calculations for single-point observations or relative positioning of long baselines. The GNSS absolute and relative positioning techniques can be implemented between points within different tectonic plates, while the classical surveying methods start from local reference/triang...

In GNSS, 3D geometric position is calculated with high accuracy. This position is the ellipsoidal latitude, longitude and ellipsoidal height (λ,ϕ,h) with respect to WGS84 coordinates system. These coordinates are integrated with local horizontal/projected coordinates (X, Y) by mathematical coordinate’s transformations and map projections. The geome...

In Geomatics, the method of least squares is commonly used to solve the systems of observation equations for a given number of unknowns. This method is basically implemented in case of having number observations larger than the number of unknowns. Implementing the large least squares problems would require a large storage on the hard drive to store...

In Geodesy, the heights of points are normally orthometric heights measured above the geoid (an equipotential surface created by the earth masses and rotation which approximately coincides with the mean sea level) or the normal heights. It is necessary to transform the GNSS/GPS measured ellipsoidal heights (h) to classical physical heights (orthome...

This study aims to validate the use of modern technologies of the mobile smart phones to solve the mathematical problems of engineering students during the lectures. One of the problems that face the engineering student during the lectures is the need to solve the mathematical problems that contain large number of observations and unknowns. These s...

The worldwide ongoing process of the establishment of high precise regional GNSS-positioning services (e.g. LATPOS), which are consistent to ITRF-related frames, leads to the new age of GNSS-positioning. The process is further promoted by an increasing number of GNSS orbital segments as well as high precise global GNSS-services. So GNSS becomes an...

The Geo-map Calculator is a software to calculate the ground coordinates of points in the end lap area in a stereopair of aerial photographs. The importance of this project lies in the possibility to build a local analytical or digital stereoplotter. The present Geo-map Calculator has reached the state of a digital mono-plotter. It is a cheap met...
