Introduction
I research innovation social practices. Through discourse analysis, I recently studied the technology transfer process, the arena in which scientists have to deal with academy and business to launch their entrepreneurial projects.

The relation between the linguistic features of value and start-up attributes has often been neglected. We examined how entrepreneurs create value through the business pitch by drawing on the identification of ‘logics of justification’, traditionally conceptualized as ‘orders of worth’. We describe the language of logics of justification and identi...

The peer review system of scientific articles is a process that deter- mines the production, diffusion and consumption of scientific know- ledge. Given its confidentiality, research on referee’s reports is very scarce and does not consider the features of the evaluators providing feedback through these reports. In the following work, it has been es...

Background: After a six-month training program in the Chilean public accelerator Start-Up Chile, entrepreneurs are asked to update a short pitch they wrote in the submission stage to appear in the program's online portfolio. Literature review: We reviewed relevant literature related to the pitch as well as research aiming to track changes within...

The growing importance of entrepreneurship and innovation for economic growth has propitiated a discursive genre that nowadays is almost omnipresent, i.e., the pitch. As with other emerging genres used in professional settings (e.g., selling presentations, business plans, etc.), several instructional discourses regarding the pitch have come out in...

The value of scientific knowledge is highly dependent on the quality of the process used to produce it, namely, the quality of the peer-review process. This process is a pivotal part of science as it works both to legitimize and improve the work of the scientific community. In this context, the present study investigated the relationship between re...

In this article a new form for the evaluation of scientific articles under peer review is presented. This proposal is based on some empirical observations with respect to this process through which scientific knowledge is built. The principles underlying this proposal are simplicity, agility and clarity in the feedback for authors. Some of the weak...

Technology Transfer can be considered as an innovation process whose discourse have become ‘naturalized’ (in terms of Fairclough, 2003, 2013) over the years. It often takes place at a university and consists in recontextualizing a scientific development in a profitable product or service (López, Mejía & Schmal, 2006). This process of innovation can be also considered as a social practice that controls language through specific social events (such as pitch presentations or institutional videos, among others) where (innovative) scientists appraise the value proposals of their technologies. With the purpose of exploring this social practice, in my doctoral thesis I aim at describing the appraisal resources (Martin & Rose, 2005) different actors involved in technology transfer processes use to elaborate their projects and, thus, establish axiological, identity and solidarity relations with their potential addressees. This work is part of the FONDECYT project: The Discourse of Innovation: Socio-discursive Practices in the Stages of Innovation Projects
