Introduction
Georgina Catacora-Vargas (Ph.D. in Agroecology) is a scholar and policy advisor on agroecology, biodiversity, sustainable food systems, and biosafety of genetic engineering. Her work is transdisciplinary and gender- (focused on women) and human-rights oriented (dedicated to peasants and indigenous people’s rights). She is a Professor of Agroecology at the Academic Peasant Unit "Tiahuanacu" of Bolivian Catholic University and president of the Latin American Scientific Society of Agroecology.
