Introduction
Work in monitoring the ecological status of rivers since 1993. Since 2000 I am director of research works have been carried out for the implementation of the WFD in the Basque country . My work has been focused on the adequacy of methodologies and procedures for the implementation of the WFD , especially those related to quality element macroinvertebrates . We have also developed methodologies for the integration of physicochemical component in the classification of ecological status in rivers.

Se propone sustituir el método tradicional de monitorización de fitoplancton en agua dulce por un sistema mediante el uso de drones que integren la toma de imágenes hiperespectrales, permitiendo la identificación y cuantificación de los pigmentos principales de fitoplancton (con especial atención a las cianobacterias), permitiendo así hacer una interpretación de la comunidad de fitoplancton que está presente en el agua en tiempo real, proporcionando mejoras significativas y nuevas funcionalidades respecto al estado del arte de los procedimientos y técnicas existentes actualmente en el mercado. Esta innovación requiere de un desarrollo de un algoritmo de interpretación de datos espectrales.
