Introduction
Gabriel's activities have focused on different fields, including the development of proficiency testing (PT) for testing and calibration, reference materials, estimation of measurement uncertainty (including uncertainty for GHG inventories), metrological consultancies with different scopes, validation of methods, accreditation evaluations, standardization, among others. Currently, he is working on the development of web interactive tools for uncertainty estimation in GHG inventories.

A new environmental challenge for Costa Rica on its path to the fight against climate change involves the precise and reliable quantification of its greenhouse gas (GHG) emission data. With the publication of the latest version of ISO 14064-1, the National Program for Carbon Neutrality of Costa Rica included measurement uncertainty as a mandatory r...

With the publication of the latest version of ISO 14064-1, the National Carbon Neutrality Program of Costa Rica included measurement uncertainty as a mandatory requirement for the reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories as an essential parameter to have precise and reliable results. However, technical gaps remain for an optimal implementation...
Article

Recently, uncertainty estimation has become a metrological requirement of great interest for the reporting of greenhouse gas inventories in Costa Rica. In this context, a methodological guide published by the National Program for Carbon Neutrality has emerged as the basis for the local development of this issue. However, additional efforts are stil...

Abstract: The aim of this work is to describe and analyze the association of PGI/PGII ratio (indicator of gastric atrophy) with H. pylori-CagA and life style factors such as caloric intake, obesity, and harmful habits amongst H. pylori-positive elderly people infected in Costa Rica using an exploratory multigroup structural equations model (SEM). U...

A new environmental challenge for Costa Rica involves the precise and reliable quantification of data from its fossil-fueled transportation sector. In the context of greenhouse gas inventories (measurement), uncertainty assessment, as the best quality parameter of any estimation or measurement, takes on a new relevance by becoming a mandatory requi...

Proficiency testing has proven to be an extremely powerful tool to evaluate the quality of measurements from various laboratories. This paper evaluates the advantages of using linear mixed models over traditional random-effects models in the analysis of homogeneity studies in proficiency testing and describes their application with a study case of...
