Проект направлен на изучение механизмов возникновения и последствий гипоксии на северо-восточном шельфе Черного моря. На протяжении последних десятилетий изменения климата привели к росту температуры воды и уменьшению глубины вентиляции водной толщи, в результате чего узкая прибрежная зона оксифильной жизни в Черном море сокращается, и снижается запас кислорода, что делает настоящее исследование актуальным для черноморского побережья Краснодарского края. Впервые планируется провести комплексное сравнительное обследование антропогенных и природных факторов развития гипоксии в трех типовых акваториях: в Геленджикской бухте, подвергающейся наибольшему антропогенному стрессу; на открытом участке шельфа (полигон «Геленджик» Южного отделения Института океанологии РАН), находящемся под максимальным воздействием процессов, происходящих в глубокой части моря; в заповеднике Утриш, как акватории, в которой антропогенное воздействие минимизировано. Предложенный проект особенно актуален для оценки результатов природоохранной деятельности по строительству очистных сооружений в г. Геленджик. Проект рассчитан на три года, чтобы провести исследования до и после ввода в эксплуатацию очистных сооружений. Для решения поставленных задач предполагается применение комплексного подхода, включающего гидрологические, гидрохимические, геохимические и биологические исследования. В ходе проекта будут проведены автоматизированные инструментальные измерения содержания кислорода и температуры воды в придонном слое моря с применением новейшего оборудования для оценки частоты, повторяемости, временных и пространственных масштабов явлений гипоксии. Будет проведена оценка реакции макрозообентосных сообществ на события гипоксии: выявлены характерные черты изменения сообществ и популяций отдельных видов при развитии сезонной/эпизодической гипоксии и характерные изменения бентоса в зоне постоянной гипоксии на границе пикноклина. Для оценки влияния других абиотических факторов на распределение, обилие и размерную структуру бентоса будут проведены измерения гранулометрического состава грунта и содержания в нем органического углерода, а также измерение окислительно-восстановительного потенциала и pH поровой воды донных осадков. На основании полученных данных будет проведен поиск причинно-следственных связей между гидрофизическими процессами и условиями возникновения и эволюции событий гипоксии на северо-восточном побережье, а также между этими явлениями и состоянием бентоса. Результаты настоящего исследования позволят выработать методические подходы к прогнозированию развития гипоксии на черноморском шельфе Краснодарского края и ее последствий для прибрежных экосистем. The project is aimed at studying the mechanisms of occurrence and consequences of hypoxia on the North-Eastern shelf of the Black sea. Over the past decades, climate change has led to an increase in water temperature and a decrease in the depth of ventilation of the water column, resulting in shrinking of a narrow coastal zone of oxyphilic life in the Black sea and reducing oxygen supply, which makes this study important for the Black Sea coast of Krasnodar region. For the first time it is planned to conduct a comprehensive comparative survey of anthropogenic and natural factors of hypoxia development in three typical bottom biotopes: Gelendzhik Bay, subjected to the greatest anthropogenic stress; open shelf area ("Gelendzhik" test site of the Southern Branch of the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Russian Academy of Sciences), which is under the highest impact of the open sea processes; Utrish reserve, as an area in which anthropogenic impact is minimized. The proposed project is particularly relevant for assessing the results of environmental protection activities related to construction of waste treatment facilities in Gelendzhik city. The project is planned for three years to conduct research before and after the commissioning of the waste treatment facilities. To address these problems it is assumed to use a multidisciplinary approach, involving hydrological, hydrochemical, geochemical and biological studies. During the project, automated instrumental measurements of oxygen content and water temperature in the bottom layer of the sea will be carried out using the state-of-art equipment to assess the frequency, time and spatial scale of hypoxia phenomena. The reaction of macrozoobenthos communities to hypoxia events will be assessed: the characteristic features of changes in communities and populations of individual species in the development of seasonal/episodic hypoxia and the characteristic changes of benthos in the zone of constant hypoxia at the border of pycnocline will be revealed. To assess the impact of other abiotic factors on the distribution, abundance and size structure of benthic, measurements of soil granulometric composition and organic carbon content, as well as measurements of redox potential and pH of bottom sediment pore water will be carried out. Based on the data obtained, an attempt will be made to establish causal relationships between hydrophysical processes and the conditions of occurrence and evolution of hypoxia events on the Black Sea northeastern coast, as well as between these phenomena and the state of benthos. The results of this study will allow to develop methodological approaches towards predicting the formation of hypoxia over the sea shelf of the Krasnodar region and its consequences for coastal ecosystems.
