In the context of amplitude-phase spatial audio coding, we give a proof of a phase discontinuity problem that affects all previous tridimensional stereo-compatible schemes. We solve it by using a dynamic mapping of spherical coordinates to the Scheiber sphere, which ensures phase continuity.
We introduce a codec that embeds a full 3D audio scene into a simple stereo-compatible stream which can be compressed with standard lossy compression schemes, aired to FM stations or even stored on analog supports. The encoded stream can be decoded and rendered to virtually any format. We detail the spatial analysis that decomposes the periphonic s...
This poster introduces the implementation of the ARCADE 3D-audio codec for web browsers. ARCADE can embed a full 3D audio scene in a simple stereo-compatible audio stream that can be further compressed with standard lossy compression schemes, aired to analog or digital radio receivers or even stored on analog supports. An ARCADE-encoded stream can...
Changing the panning law of a stereo mixture is often impossible when the original multitrack session cannot be retrieved or used, or when the mixing desk uses a fixed panning law. Yet such a modification would be of interest during tape mastering sessions, among other applications. We present a frequency-based algorithm that computes the panorama...
In the context of a two- to three-channel upmix, center channel derivations fall within the field of common signal extraction methods. In this paper we explore the pertinence of the performance criteria that can be obtained from a probabilistic approach to source extraction; we propose a new, non-linear method to extract a common signal from two so...
A method for sound signal processing a sound originating from a source (S) situated inside a first room (R1) and propagating to a listener (L) situated inside a second room (R2), and the first and second rooms (R1, R2) having an opening (O) between them. The method comprises the steps of determining a position of a single relay point (V), and deter...
A device for observation, by reflection, of the structural details of an object (2) that exhibits a behavior that is at least partially specular, located in an exposure area, which includes: at least one radiation source with an emission surface (6) possessing at least two distinct zones (26, 27) emitting streams of radiation, where at least one of...
