Advancements in electronics and the rapid evolution of technology necessitate that higher education institutions continuously adapt their curricula to accommodate new teaching methodologies and emergent tools. This paper examines the impact of integrating flipped learning and digital laboratories into practical sessions of a Basic Electronics cours...
This study introduces a novel approach to enhancing energy efficiency by building a high-resolution dataset for Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring, addressing the challenges of monitoring a wide range of devices. To achieve optimal energy efficiency, it is essential to have advanced monitoring of electrical variables. In this context, the second version...
The growing urgency for sustainable energy solutions necessitates a deeper understanding of the environmental impacts of renewable technologies. This article aims to synthesize and analyze Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) in this domain, providing a comprehensive perspective. We systematically categorized 2923 articles into four sectors: (1) photovolta...

The growing urgency for sustainable energy solutions necessitates a deeper understanding of the environmental impacts of renewable technologies. This article aims to synthesize and analyze Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) in this domain, providing a comprehensive perspective. We systematically categorize 2,923 articles into four communities: (1) Photov...
In the context of the global energy sector’s increasing reliance on fossil fuels and escalating environmental concerns, there is an urgent need for advancements in energy monitoring and optimization. Addressing this challenge, the present study introduces the Open Multi Power Meter, a novel open hardware solution designed for efficient and precise...
It is necessary to establish sustainable energy development planning through renewable generation systems to
promote energy change toward sustainability. Among the renewable energy systems, solar photovoltaic technology
is the most progressive and offers the best global prospects, albeit with different limitations, which has
made photovoltaics the...
This chapter provides an overview of research on the dielectric properties of fresh food and their applications in assessing food quality and freshness. Non-destructive methods, including dielectric techniques such as dielectric spectroscopy (DS) and bioelectrical impedance spectroscopy (BIS), have gained importance in assessing food quality withou...
Marine Renewable Energies represent an untapped potential for clean and sustainable electricity generation. This paper discusses the diverse types of Marine Renewable Energies, including wave energy, tidal energy, ocean thermal energy. Furthermore, it scrutinizes the current state of development, assesses environmental and economic implications, an...
Societies worldwide are searching for greener and more sustainable energy systems where renewable energies increasingly play a crucial part. Special interest is taken in the sea as an enormous wind source as offshore wind energy comes to the fore. Due to its growing importance, the social impact of offshore wind farms is studied, and its social ene...
The goal of this thesis is to study the electromagnetic waves in the frequency range from 3 Hz to 2.2 kHz generated by the power distribution lines and devices connected to them. These emissions were measured using a magnetometer specifically designed for this purpose, together with the data acquisition system and signal processing, among others. E...
This paper describes the characteristics of worldwide scientific contributions to the field of electric vehicles (EVs) from 1955 to 2021. For this purpose, a search within the Scopus database was conducted using “Electric Vehicle” as the keyword. As a result, 50,195 documents were obtained through analytical and bibliometric techniques and classifi...
The stability of the power grid's frequency is crucial for industrial, commercial, and domestic applications. The standard frequency in Europe's grid is 50 Hz and it must be as stable as possible; therefore, reliable measurement is essential to ensure that the frequency is within the limits defined in the standard EN 50160:2010. In this article, a...
Sustainability is becoming of vital importance in project management, and a life cycle assessment (LCA) can ensure a body of knowledge to bear in mind the environmental burdens the project involves. In this study, two different ways of supplying energy to a sensor network are analyzed. Firstly, we analyze the environmental impact of the devices con...
The Teaching Innovation Project "Design of Printed Circuit Boards (PCB)" was created as a tool to
solve the gap that had been detected in the Degree in Industrial Electronic Engineering at the
University of Almería, between the skills that students must acquire and the mechanisms available to
achieve those skills.
An analysis of the design cycle of...
COVID-19 pandemic has brought an unprecedented situation in all areas of society in the heart of the
21st century. The university sector has been immersed in a sudden change to adapt with great haste to
the new conditions of confinement, going from face-to-face to virtual teaching.
The degree in Industrial Electronics Engineering offered by Univers...
Novel technologies for resource recovery from water
The integration of an off-grid solar-assisted heat pump (SHP) and a sequencing batch biofilter granular reactor (SBBGR) for thermal energy recovery from wastewater was assessed by means of a prospective life cycle assessment (LCA) and life cycle costing (LCC), by theoretically scaling up a pilot installation in Bari, Italy, to a full-scale unit des...
The project focuses on developing, implementing, and diffusing technologies to improve energy efficiency in wastewater treatment plants using a solar-assisted heat pump (SHP) system. The integration of a highly efficient tubular heat exchanger (THEx) coupled to an SHP with a pioneering sequencing batch biofilter granular reactor (SBBGR) enables to...
In this work, the study of the behaviour and evolution of the Phase Change Material (PCM) will be presented through an experimental process of accelerated thermal cycle test.
