Introduction
My research interests can be dived into two broad areas: work and organizational psychology, and educational science. With respect to the first, themes can be summarized into meaningful work, sources of meaning in work, individualization of work, decision-making process, critical perspectives in work and organizational psychology. With the respect to the second, broad themes of interest are vocational education and training; initial VET, soft skills; industry 4.0 and VET.

For some time now, the corporate world has found itself within a real revolution, which is radically changing the way of understanding production processes and the product itself. This procedure is recognized as a "digitization process" and consists of the merger between the new information and communication technologies and the industrial sector. In Italy, especially within SMEs, the implementation of this process can be very difficult, both due to the lack of funds and because you cannot count on the help of an expert professional figure. To solve the problems, the Italian state has therefore decided to launch the "Industry 4.0 Plan", which provides for a set of incentives aimed at supporting innovation, through funds and investments in the areas of research, training, coaching and development in research. To get Italian SMEs out of their comfort zone, it would be necessary to bring them into the perspective of "Open innovation", an innovative process that requires collaboration and contribution both from internal resources and from external resources. company, and which includes various factors such as the risk of innovation, the exchange and sharing of ideas and projects, collaboration with external partners. The term innovation is generally used to refer to the development and implementation of new ideas, new tools, new products and new processes. For this reason, it is assimilated to the sectors of creativity and originality. Creativity can be defined as ideas as the tendency to generate or recognize alternatives or possibilities that are useful for solving problems, communication and entertainment. Originality is considered the quality of renewing oneself and being different in a positive and attractive way. As for the specific theme of organizational innovation, it is closely linked to that of training and development. Cognitive functions such as perception, attention, memory or decision making are mental abilities necessary for the performance of any activity. They differ from individual to individual, depending on factors that have been referred to as "individual differences." One of these differences is the subject of the model developed by U.S. psychologist Raymond Cattell, who in 1963 postulated the existence of two types of intelligence: fluid and crystallized. Fluid intelligence refers to the ability of individuals to adapt to new situations and to think logically, being able to solve problems independently of learned knowledge. This type of intelligence, according to the author, depends on biological factors and is therefore naturally acquired. Crystallized intelligence, on the other hand, is the ability to use skills, knowledge and experiences acquired throughout life. It is thus a product of one's educational and cultural experiences, and is in constant interaction with fluid intelligence. While crystallized intelligence remains stable throughout life, fluid intelligence tends to decline with increasing age. That is to say, as people age, they tend to rely more on crystallized intelligence than fluid intelligence. This phenomenon especially affects decision making. Over the past two decades, scientific research has shown a strong interest in studying decision-making processes in relation to the effects of aging. Since the consequences of non-rational decision making can be risky, it is worth examining how much can be attributed to aging. Scientific evidence has shown that, when it comes to decision making, certain individual characteristics attributable to aging are associated with greater tendency to incur bias (i.e., cognitive errors in reasoning) and heuristics (i.e., automatic shortcuts in reasoning). However, there is still little knowledge on the topic. To address this need, APRESO has joined a strand of research aimed at investigating the association between aging and the implementation of risky health behaviors. Specifically, through the integration of the aforementioned literature perspectives, the antecedents of the development of optimal decision making were identified. In this sense, the research enabled the development of a broad and comprehensive taxonomy of heuristics and biases based on an empirical evidence-based approach. In contrast to the idea that there is only one element of decision-making competence (Ceschi et al., 2017), the results allowed for the implementation of an intervention aimed at improving decision-making through the teaching of debiasing strategies, which allow for the elimination or minimization of influences on decision-making given by individual factors such as age. In fact, a debiasing intervention can improve decision making in individuals who may more frequently incur bias and heuristics as they age (Larrick, 2004). Project
This research project proposes a survey on the organizational rewards and work commitment in some interesting companies throughout the analysis of the perceived efforts and rewards in workers and employees. The reference model is the Effort-Reward Imbalance (Model) by Siegrist. The idea of this model is that some individual factors affect the perception of balance (or imbalance) between what people give in the workplace and what they receive from the organization they work in. Therefore, if there is a balance situation, it is possible to talk about reciprocity. On the contrary, if there is an imbalance situation, it could generate distress or negative emotions in the work-life. According to these aspects, the perception of imbalance can cause such negative outcomes as dissatisfaction and demotivation within the organization and it can influence the quality of decision making at work. Concerning organizational behavior and occupational rewards, two interesting studies are here presented: the first is called "The Impact of Occupational Rewards on Risk-Taking Among Managers" and concerns managers, who often have to deal with the financial and ethical risks that companies face. Evidence from risk management research suggests a negative relationship between people’s age and risk-taking tendencies. Within such a framework, this study shows different perceived occupational rewards may mediate or interact with the relationship between age and risk-taking of managers at the company level. Our results show that perceived rewards in terms of job security partially mediate the relationship between age and ethical risk-taking, while perceived rewards related to job promotion moderate the effect of age on financial risk-taking. We further discuss the role of different organizational strategies to preserve an organization’s health. The second is called "A cognitive perspective on counterproductive work behavior. Evidence from a two-wave longitudinal study" and concerns Counterproductive work behavior (CWB) that is costly for organizations and their members. In this study, researchers adopted the theory of planned behavior and the effort-reward imbalance model to understand how behavioral intention relates to actual CWB, how such a relationship arises from personal beliefs and social norms, and whether perceptions of imbalance between efforts and rewards contribute to explain CWB. Two-wave data with a time lag of 12 weeks were collected among 80 Italian employees working in a large production plant of a private company operating in the manufacturing sector in Italy. Self-reported measures of attitudes, social norms, perceived behavioral control, intentions and CWB, perceived efforts, and rewards, as well as control variables, were collected. Attitudes and perceived behavioral control were indirectly related to CWB via behavioral intention. Effort-reward imbalance was not related to CWB. In conclusion, the findings of this research projects suggest that attitudinally controlled intentions, which have an internal locus of causality, are associated with a greater likelihood of CWB performance, and that individual perceptions of control over CWB are key predictors of such a negative, volitional organizational behavior.
