Introduction
I currently work at the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Technologies (DiSTeBA), Università del Salento. I’m a marine ecologist mainly interested in the study of coastal fish communities. I am engaged in the study and monitoring of interactions between NIS and alloctone species and their contributions to the entire marine food web.
I'm looking for a PhD in fishery and aquaculture.

The introduction of the amphipod Dikerogammarus villosus in European fresh waters is to date recognized as a threat to the integrity of invaded communities. Predation by D. villosus on native benthic invertebrates is assumed as the key determinant of its ecological impact, yet available information describe the species as a primary consumer as well...
Organic aquaculture represents 4.6% of total aquaculture production. However, the economic results of organic aquaculture in the EU appear to be far from satisfying. Notwithstanding the above, Europe is still heavily dependent on external markets to cover seafood demand. Nowadays, fisheries and aquaculture sectors require paramount need to (i) enha...
The fishery biology of the invasive Atlantic blue crab Callinectes sapidus in the Mediterranean Sea outside the eastern sectors of the basin has been only recently investigated. Here we studied the population of C. sapidus in the Lesina Lagoon (Adriatic Sea, SE Italy). In total, 838 crabs were captured monthly between February 2021 and January 2022...

Aquatic mosses can be used as biofilters since they reduce heavy metals, nitrogenous compounds and nanoparticles in solution through absorption and uptake. They're also an effective mechanical filter for particles resuspended in water. However, over time, biofiltering efficiency can be compromised by the formation of a biofilm consisting of filamen...

A direct consequence of sea warming is the shift in the distribution range of thermo-tolerant species that have the potential to determine novel inter-specific interactions, ultimately altering food web structures and ecosystem processes. In this study, we investigated the trophic position of the bluefish Pomatomus saltatrix (Linnaeus, 1766), a pel...
Salento from the geological point of view can be divided into two sections with different lithostratigraphic units. Not having large geological outcrops available, the region has been characterized for centuries by quarrying, of which 72% are still in business today. These exploit sedimentary rocks, mainly limestone and clay, each of these units ha...

Using marine organisms ( in particular demersal fish) I would like to study the effect of emerging contaminants and multiple stressor in these communities. Do you have any advice/recommendation?
