Question
I’m curious about how different journal indexing platforms are perceived in your country, particularly in the context of academic competitions and evaluations. Could you share your insights on the following?
  1. Does DOAJ hold significant academic value in your country?
  2. In academic competitions, does a publication indexed in Scopus or Web of Science carry more weight?
  3. If Scopus quartiles are recognized, which ones are considered valuable (e.g., Q1, Q2, etc.)?
  4. On Web of Science, is there an equivalent ranking system that corresponds to the quartiles of Scopus?
  5. Is PubMed/Medline recognized as a valuable index in academic evaluations?
Your input would be extremely helpful for understanding how these criteria impact researchers globally.
Thank you!
Question
I’ve been wondering about ResearchGate’s criteria for journal inclusion. It seems that ResearchGate only recognizes journals registered with CrossRef, but does not include those indexed in DOAJ unless they are also registered with CrossRef.
On its website, ResearchGate highlights the quality of CrossRef, but this raises a few questions:
  • Why are DOIs obtained through other providers, like Zenodo or Medra, not considered of comparable quality?
  • DOAJ is widely recognized as a database that ensures journals meet high-quality standards and actively excludes predatory journals. Isn’t that in line with ResearchGate’s goals?
  • By excluding DOAJ-indexed journals not using CrossRef, does ResearchGate implicitly not recognize DOAJ as a reliable quality database?
DOAJ’s selection process is specifically designed to exclude predatory journals, much like ResearchGate’s goal of maintaining quality by recognizing CrossRef-registered journals. So, why this distinction?
I’d love to hear your thoughts or insights on this!
Question
Burnout is a psychological syndrome, characterized by high emotional exhaustion and depersonalization and low professional accomplishment (see Maslach's definition and MBI scale for measuring it), which is very common among medical residents. In literature, work factors that contribute to physician burnout include excessive workloads, long working hours, specialty choice, frequent call duties, high emotional demands, workplace violence, bullying, bad management and many others. Is burnout a serious concern and what are the main determinants or risk factors for healthcare worker's burnout syndrome in your country?
Question
Today, the Open Access movement is well-established in scholarly publishing. It is important to note that many OA journals are new and have not yet received their first impact factor (IF). So, if you have to choose, do you prefer to publish in a Subscription-based journal with IF, or in OA journal without IF? And why? Are visibility, costs, prestige of publisher and speed of publication as important as impact factor?
Question
I think they are surely Scopus and Web fof Science. But there are also prestigious indexing services such as Pubmed (Medline), EBSCO, DOAJ and some others, which should be considered in academic settings.
