Project
Aim of the project is development of methodology of design and rapid manufacturing preparation of personalized medical products, on example of orthopaedic and prosthetic supplies, on the basis of data from non-contact anthropometric measurements. The project author proposes an innovative approach, based on existing solutions in scope of automated design, Reverse Engineering, Augmented Reality and manufacturing using 3D printing techniques. A prototype of an automated design and manufacturing system will be built, for selected personalized orthopaedic supplies and prostheses, with direct participation of a patient and a doctor in the whole process. The most important added value of the system is elimination of work by design and process engineers - the built solution, after feeding it with knowledge about a selected product, will operate as a full automaton ("vending machine"), obtaining patient data using 3D scanning, then preparing the full, customizable project, as well as program for the manufacturing machine, realizing a 3D printing (additive manufacturing) process. The system will be able to be applied in locations such as hospitals, clinics or shops with orthopaedic and prosthetic supplies, for automated use by patients under supervision of a doctor or other medical personnel. Project financed by Polish National Centre for Research and Development, agreement no. LIDER/14/0078/L-8/16/NCBR/2017
