A small, rare Inocybe from Germany, and Austria is presented: Inocybe ionochlora
Romagnesi. Species description is illustrated with photographs, photo-micrographs and line
drawings. Results from a DNA-analysis are discussed.
In this new series of Fungal Biodiversity Profiles, the authors provide descriptions for ten new taxa: Ilytheomyces uncinatus W. Rossi & M. Leonardi, sp. n ov. (Ascomycota, Laboulbeniales) and several B asidiomycota: in family Entolomataceae for E ntoloma aurantioalpinum Armada, Vila, Bellanger, N oordel., Krisai & Dima, sp. n ov. and E. nigroflave...

Dry dipterocarp forests are among the most common habitat types in Thailand. Russulaceae are known as common ectomycorrhizal symbionts of Dipterocarpaceae trees in this type of habitat. The present study aims to identify collections of Russula subsection Amoeninae Buyck from dry dipterocarp forests in Thailand. A multi-locus phylogenetic analysis p...
Russula albonigra is considered a well-known species, morphologically delimited by the context of the basidiomata blackening without intermediate reddening, and the menthol-cooling taste of the lamellae. It is supposed to have a broad ecological range and a large distribution area. A thorough molecular analysis based on four nuclear markers (ITS, L...
Following the publication of the original article [1], we were notified of a few inconsistencies between the pdf version and the html version with regards to the Key to the European species of Russula subgen. Compactae (pg. 25). In the online version for steps 3(2), 9(8) and 12(10): part of first option was gone and combined with the second option....
In spring 2020, seven creeks in the Ilm district of Thuringia were investigated for the diversity of aquatic fungi and fungi of adjacent wetland sites. 33 species were found, including three first records for Thuringia and one first record for Germany. Selected species are portrayed and illustrated.
Species of the genus Russula are key components of ectomycorrhizal ecosystems worldwide.
Nevertheless, their diversity in the tropics is still poorly known. This study aims to contribute
to the knowledge of the diversity of Russula species classified in subsection
Roseinae based on specimens recently collected in tropical montane rainforests in wes...

Species of Russula are ubiquitous members of ectomycorrhizal fungal communities in tropical ecosystems. However, an important part of the total tropical diversity of this genus and its biogeo-graphic patterns is unknown due to the lack of studies on Russula in tropical ecosystems. We combined molecular, morphological, ecological, and biogeographic...
Ein Bericht über besondere Wiesenpilzfunde im Juni 2020 im Ilm-Kreis, Thüringen, Deutschland
The names Lamprospora esterlechnerae and Lamprospora bavarica were introduced by Benkert in 2011. The former, which is invalid owing to a formal error in holotype designation, is validated. Regarding the latter, relevant data of the type specimen missing from the description are provided.

Russula aurantiopectinata sp. nov. and Russula magica sp. nov., two new species from tropical montane rainforests of northern Thailand, are described based on morphological and molecular genetic data and illustrated. The phylogenetic lineage comprising Russula magica, Russula olivaceohimalayensis, Russula seperina and Russula rhodomarginata is form...
Novel species of fungi described in this study include those from various countries as follows: Australia, Austroboletus asper on soil, Cylindromonium alloxyli on leaves of Alloxylon pinnatum, Davidhawksworthia quintiniae on leaves of Quintinia sieberi, Exophiala prostantherae on leaves of Prostanthera sp., Lactifluus lactiglaucus on soil, Linterom...

Abstract: Some interesting Cortinarius records during the ThAM/Boletus congress 2019 in Bad Blankenburg are briefly presented and illustrated. Most of the finds were collected inside the nature reserve "Dissau and Steinberg".

Species of the ectomycorrhizal genus Lactifluus , and often entire sections, are typically unique to a single continent. Given these biogeographic patterns, an interesting region to study their diversity is Central America and the Caribbean, since the region is closely connected to and often considered a part of the North American continent, but bi...
Stahl H-J, Jurkeit W, Hampe F (2020) - The rare Russula tinctipes Blum ex Bon in Central Europe. Zeitschrift für Mykologie 86/1: 3-21. Abstract: Mauro Sarnari considered Russula tinctipes Blum ex Bon to be a merely meridio-nal-mediterranean species with, as he put it, "modest offshoots towards the French Atlantic coast" (Sarnari 2005: 1055). In rec...
Since 2007, the quality of Russula descriptions has improved and the use of molecular support for species delimitation and the number of published new species has increased. However, the description style is not consistent and has regional or author-specific patterns. Most recent publications still favour descriptions of spores compared to hymenium...
The ectomycorrhizal milkcap genus Lactifluus (Russulaceae) is commonly found in tropical and subtropical forests of Southeast Asia. During several sampling expeditions in Thailand, multiple collections of Lactifluus (Lf.) species with pleurotoid or small agaricoid basidiocarps were found. A molecular study was combined with a morphological study, i...
Among 45 Russula species and infraspecific taxa described by J. Blum, only few are currently accepted. Here we present a case study on R. formosa nom. illeg. (homotypic synonym of R. blumiana), R. decipiens var. ochrospora nom. inval. and R. roseobrunnea. The study is based on sequences and morphological observations of authentic herbarium material...
Based on morphological, molecular, and ecological data, a new species of Russula sect. Russula, found on several occasions under deciduous trees in Northern Alsace is described and illustrated as: Russula vinosoflavescens, belonging to R. subsect. Sardoninae.
Russula is one of the most speciose genera of mushroom-forming fungi, but phylogenetic relationships among species and subgeneric groupings are poorly understood. Our multi-locus phylogenetic reconstruction places R. firmula, R. rubra, R. rutila and R. veternosa in a well-supported Rubrinae clade, belonging to the Integrae clade of the Crown clade...
The current generally accepted concept of Russula maculata defines the species by yellow-brownish spots on the basidi-omata, an acrid taste, a yellow spore print and a red pileus. This concept was tested using collections originating from various geographical areas mainly in Europe. Analyses of the ITS region suggested that there were three species...
Species ofRussulasubsect.Xerampelinaeare notoriously difficult to identify and name and have not been subject to molecular study. A group of species, referred to here as theR. clavipescomplex, growing in association withSalix,BetulaandPopulusas well as coniferous tree species from temperate to arctic and alpine habitats, were examined. Analyses of...
Supplementary tables I-IV, Supplementary figs. 1-3 Files in this Data Supplement: Supplementary table I-List of studied specimens provided with country and area of origin, associated organism, herbarium numbers and Gen Bank accession numbers. Collections were identified according to Knudsen et al. (2008) and Adamč?k and Knudsen (2004) Supplementary...
Ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungi, symbiotic mutualists of many dominant tree and shrub species, exhibit a biogeographic pattern counter to the established latitudinal diversity gradient of most macroflora and fauna. However, an evolutionary basis for this pattern has not been explicitly tested in a diverse lineage. In this study, we reconstructed a mega...
