Question
In a cross-lagged design performed with longitudinal data, I´ve read that the cross-lagged correlation between X and Y controls for the level of the outcome at baseline. However, when we have 3 variables assessed, does the cross-lagged correlation between X and Y controls for the level of the other variable as well?
E.g. We assess life events, depression and anxiety at T1 & T2 and we conduct a cross-lagged correlation that shows that life events at T1 are related to depression at T2. I assume that this correlation is adjusted for depression at T1, but is it adjusted for the level of anxiety at T1?
