This study aims to evaluate the impact of urban spatial expansion on the landscape patterns of coastal cities in Türkiye through the use of spatio-temporal indices. To this end, temporal samples covering a period of approximately 30 years (1986–2000 and 2000–2015) were analyzed for six selected coastal cities in Türkiye. The urban spatial growth pa...

The decline in ecosystem services (ES) across the world is mostly associated with land use change, which is the basic outcome of ecosystem degradation. The changes associated with land use development often negatively impact ecosystems to sustain their services. The lack of capability of contemporary land suitability (overlay) analysis on ES-based...
Changes relating to the development of land use often negatively impact on ecosystem services (ES), which in turn impairs the ability of ecosystems to sustain such services. The assessment of land suitability is a critical step in land use planning, but it may have some shortcomings and may fail to represent the diversity of ES-related features of...

Ecologically and socio-economically beneficial to cities, and covering a large fragment of land use pattern in developed countries, the green areas are under risk of zoning for building due to rapid and unplanned urbanization, policies aiming at rent and non-applicable zoning ordinances. Sufficiency of active green areas is validated with the stand...

Residential satisfaction can be viewed as a part of life satisfaction. There are many studies related to the relationship between residents’ satisfaction with their environments and the quality of those environments. The purpose of this paper is to examine how this satisfaction differs according to the type of residential environment.

In the process of urbanization, protection of ecosystems and ensuring the continuity of the services they provide are very important in terms of the functionality of life support systems. Otherwise, degradation in ecosystems can have negative consequences for different dimensions, such as biodiversity decline, over-consumption of resources and clim...
The micro-level urban morphology of large cities in the Middle East and North Africa and southeastern Europe has not been thoroughly investigated, and its transformation during the past decades has remained less-studied. Hence, this study is meant to partially explain urban morphology of Istanbul, Cairo, and Tehran, three megacities of the region b...
