Türkiye is vulnerable to many natural disasters. Therefore, every Turkish citizen should learn to live with these issues. In other words, everyone should contribute to the reduction of disaster risks and be individuals who are resistant to disasters. To achieve this, education is vital. Educating preschool children, the most vulnerable groups regarding natural disasters, will create a bottom-up interaction in society. This project aims to create a conceptual framework for disaster education in preschool period. In this context, the goal of this project is also to determine the training needs related to natural disasters, to increase natural disaster literacy skills, to design, develop and evaluate a family-participated training module for teachers and children. In addition, to determine the natural disaster literacy of children, it is planned to develop, implement and evaluate the natural disaster literacy scale for preschool children. The research consists of two main stages. The first stage includes determining, implementing and evaluating the multidisciplinary natural disaster literacy education content for preschool teachers. In the second phase, the development, implementation and evaluation of the multidisciplinary natural disaster literacy training module with family participation for preschool children and the natural disaster literacy scale for preschool children will be carried out together with the participating teachers. Multi-stage mixed design is preferred. Qualitative data of the first stage is followed by quantitative data, and then will be supported by qualitative and quantitative data. With this project, reminder of past events, scenario animation (artistic practices such as drama, dramatic plays, theatrical events, puppets, shadow plays) and different multidisciplinary scientific approaches (STEM, STEM+A, STEM-D etc.) will be used holistically by using technological opportunities (augmented reality, digital tools-software, simulations) for the participants of preschool education (teachers-children). Besides, since the children in the preschool participant group are intertwined with technology as Alpha generation, it is planned to design learning environments (augmented reality, virtual reality, digital tools) in such a way that they can actively use technology in activities. Within the scope of the project, it is expected to contribute to the field by preparing 3 scientific articles and 4 scientific presentations to be published in respected national and international journals. The multidisciplinary natural disaster literacy education module for preschool children is the most important social output of the project. It is aimed to integrate the multidisciplinary natural disaster education module (that will be developed through interactions and informative meetings with the Ministry of National Education) into curriculum. Thus, the developed education module will be expanded throughout the country, so thousands of pre-school children will have the opportunity to receive education every year, and it will contribute to the formation of a disaster-resilient society. After the project, quantitative, qualitative or mixed method studies will be designed to test the effectiveness of this module in different contexts, contributing to the widespread impact of the project. Also, it is aimed to increase the widespread effect of the project by adapting the module to different education levels and improving its scope in new projects.
