Introduction
Nearly all work has focussed on the human-infective, Trypanosoma brucei, with disproportionately little research focussing on the important veterinary species T. congolense. However, emerging evidence is now showing metabolic divergence between T. brucei and T. congolense, which may impact upon their host-pathogen interactions. With this foundation, we aim to investigate how the metabolic differences between T. congolense and T. brucei impact on the function and response of macrophages.
