Introduction
My interests lie in the fields of linguistics, psychology, and cognitive sciences. I use experimental, corpus, and computational methods.
I am currently interested in 1) basic semantic categories from typological and multimodal perspectives (space, time, color, gender, etc.) 2) basic linguistics and applied psycholinguistics research (sign language documentation, first/second/foreign language usage, etc.), and 3) bibliometrics of social sciences and humanities.

There are two types of natural human languages: spoken and signed. Following the seminal works by Tervoort (1953) and Stokoe (1960), linguistic explorations over the past five decades or so have shown that sign languages possess several unique properties due to their visual-gestural basis. Signs are composed of minimal units such as manuals (shapes...

The path and manner of objects in motion events have been studied in many languages. Prosodic words in Turkish are generated according to the palatal and labial Vowel Harmony (VH) rules: being left-to-right iterative, (1) any suffix vowel agrees with the preceding vowel with the [back] feature and (2) a high vowel agrees with the preceding vowel with the [round] feature. However, bare forms, compounds, affixes of foreign origin, so...

Much evidence points to the conclusion that temporal concepts are drawn primarily from the conceptualization of space. Sign languages provide a particularly suitable area for observing such a relationship since they employ a three-dimensional signing space as a major building block for articulation.
