In the vibroacoustic analysis of electrical machines, the effect of the tangential magnetic force on the vibrations is generally neglected compared with the radial magnetic force, as well as the effect of the tangential flux density on the radial force, especially for induction machines. In this paper, these two assumptions are studied for the case...

The analysis of noise and vibrations under electromagnetic excitations (e-NVH) in electrical machines requires to study the stator mechanical response when excited by Maxwell stress waves. In particular, the notion of unit-wave Frequency Response Function (FRF) is often used in e-NVH simulations to model the mechanical response under electromagneti...

The presence of magnetic stress harmonics inside the electrical machine is generally responsible for vibrations and acoustic noise generation. This phenomenon is called e-NVH (Noise, Vibrations and Harshness due to electromagnetic excitations) and has to be considered in the machine design to meet with NVH standard requirements, especially in autom...

Project
Pyleecan (PYthon Library for Electrical Engineering Computational Analysis) aims at developing a unified object-oriented modelling framework of electrical machines and drives under Python language, providing a common framework for all existing free/open-source tools for the design of electrical machines (FEMM/xFemm, Elmer, Femag, GetDP, Code_Aster, etc).
Project
This project aims at establishing an open access experimental benchmark of magnetic noise and vibration phenomenon in order to compare and validate simulation methods in terms of accuracy and speed. The test bench is made of a simplified rotor & stator excited by a rotating DC field (PM) or a static rotating field (AC winding). Vibroacoustic tests include acceleration and sound pressure level measurements, but also sound power level SWL, experimental modal analysis EMA, and operational deflection shapes ODS. The test data is used to compare electromagnetic & vibroacoustic simulation process of MANATEE and other FEA software. The aim is to provide to all researchers in that field some clear experimental data to validate their models & simulation process.
Project
This project aims at finding new simulation methods for the fast calculation of acoustic noise & vibrations due to magnetic forces in radial flux electrical machines in non sinusoidal, non linear, variable speed conditions. It includes Electromagnetic Vibration Synthesis methods (e.g. tooth excitation, rotating wave excitation, modal magnetic forces), model hybridation (e.g. FEMM & subdomain, subdomain & reluctance networks) and model order reduction methods.
